If Hayes does not miss that empty net in the first the Glames ply from behind all game.
Hiller was way out of postion on tht one. He was 3 feet right of the net before it gets passed to the left.

Hamilton is taking up the old Phaneuf spot, everytime a goal is scored, there he is in front of the net with his head down in shame..

I'm thinking Jesse Puljujarvi. 6'3", RW, 0.524 PPG in the Liiga as a 16 year old (Granlund was 0.723 PPG as an 18 year old)

Good. That said he is going to have to be "all world". Flames need scoring from other lines. Unless Ortio is going to come in and post shut outs every game, flames could be in trouble.

Well since the first 3 draft picks are lottery, I was assuming.
1. Matthews
2. Chychrun
3. Puljujarvi
4. Flames pick

I just have a hard time seeing somebody named Puljujarvi making a career in the NHL.

Stop this draft pick talk already. Are you guys oiler fans trolling CP? Sure sounds like it.
Get Ortio in, get Brodie back. Things will be different once we get Gio and Brodie back together.
Hamilton needs time and him playing with experienced guys like Russell or Smid will help. Once Brodie is back, Hamilton will be on the third pairing with Smid or Engelland. I don't feel like that is terrible and he can only get better getting used to the Flames systems.
The only thing I want to see from him is more compete and effort. Just looks like he doesn't care.

Rangers were SCF in 2014 and ECF in 2015, and the Flames completely outplayed them for most of the game. Only great goaltending from Raanta kept it close.
I realize moral victories don't count in the standings, but this was a game to build on.

I keep thinking this team is going to breakout but they are 2-6 for a reason they have had one good game. The rest have been stinkers and it shows what good goaltending can do. Get outplayed for the better part of two periods and still come out on top. I hope ortio takes this opprotunity and runs with it we need him to play well.

Ortio wants this. I hope you guys are right and he can run with it. No way he ca be worse than Hiller or Ramo could he?
I have faith. But I won't be ready much on CP if all this draft pick starts up in October after a loss. Ridiculous.

It's apparent the Flames are going to have to deal from the back end to acquire more scoring up front. Wouldn't be surprised to see Russell and/or Hickey moved for some sniping help.
Without Gaudreau we'd be pooched. In fact, part of the problem may be other guys deferring to him too much.

Rebuilding is never a linear process.
Everything bounced the Flames way last year, now it seems like everything is going in the other direction.
No offensive depth will kill any team and the Flames are not getting anything from anyone outside of Gaudreau at the moment.
We will see.

I can't believe how negative some of you guys are. Yes they're in a hole and yes it's getting dire. But that game was far from a "mess". They outplayed a top team from the East for 50 minutes. Geez. Hopefully Ortio provides some stability, few bottom players start scoring and string some wins together. Then right back in it.
Sit Hamilton for a game and he can learn from above. He needs some guidance.

Good goaltending won't stop the players from clearing the pucks up the middle of the ice in the defensive zone, or suddenly teach players to clear bodies in front of the net instead of standing there doing nothing.
