Positives:
Despite the score, carried the play in the 2nd. More of that please.
Johnny Hockey is one of the best LWs in the NHL. Possibly the best one not named Ovechkin.
Gio-Wideman pair.
Grant was pretty good
Bennett was a beast.
Ortio saw some pucks at least. Should be ready next game.
Bennett-Backlund-Jooris. Best 2nd power play unit we've had in a calendar year. Now let's just get Granlund back up to the NHL!

Negatives
- Another choked lead.
- Not a fan of Frolik-Backlund. They get shots on net, but nothing is ever dangerous. Separate them and get Jones back with Backs.
- 4 goals allowed again. This team's meltdowns are crazy.
- This team has no speed to create separation. Byron would have helped.
- This team is all passers, no shooters. Bouma would have helped.
- Hamilton awful on that first and fourth goal. Brodie would have helped.
- Monahan's clear on that 3rd goal was nothing short of awful. I remain unconvinced he's a #1C right now, when he's not sniping goals what is he offering?
- Despite the goal, Hudler invisible. He needs Johnny way more than Johnny needs him.
- Bollig tries, but he's just not very good.
- Stajan tries, but really needs wingers who can cycle with him.
- Need some speedy wingers. Call up Agostino or something.

Warrener is going to hammer the goaltending tomorrow.

Won't win a game when your goaltender plays like that, especially when you are a one line team.

Hamilton is just not a dfd. He is just to use to Chara bailing him out. He has a great offensive mind but never really needed to worry about the d zone to much. He was sheltered in Boston .

It's gotta be hard to play when almost every mistake ends up in the back of your net.

Did you read my mind?????

Positives: Grant looked good, Johnny was Johnny, Bennett was great offensively, Frolik is really good and Backlund was great. All in all, av team playing like that wins far more games than it loses

Negatives: Moral victories don't give you points. I'll get flamed for this, but a team that was a bubble team all along cannot afford to start 6 points on the hole. It's too late now.

As an aside, how does Hamilton get blamed for that goal??? How the hell is the right defenseman supposed to cover the high slot on the left side??? That goal is all on Bennett. The next goal was a bad Bennett turnover at his own blueline with the team heading the other way. That's on Bennett too. Somehow that's Hamilton's fault? I'm confused

Screw it. This team is ready to break out. Ortio does what he did last year and these guys go on a 4 game win streak. 6-6 by this time next week.

This is exactly what last year would have looked like minus the 10 comeback wins. This is the team that I was expecting last year. It's early still but I thougjt this is how the team was suppose to look like.

Hiller is garbage. If we're going to throw away the season with Hiller, we might as well see what we have in Ortio. Whatever, I'm getting to the point where I'm just going to stop watching if Hartley's just going to run Hiller out there all season. I've got better things to do than watch the Flames get stomped game after game.

Hiller's problems are rebound control, and long shots from the point. Yes, he makes some incredible saves at times but that is because he makes mistakes that puts himself in those positions. He also can't track the puck from the blueline worth a damn. He just wiffs on floaters from there. His positioning can be whack at times as well. All we can do is pray Ortio takes the ball and runs with it. Don't get me wrong, we have to be much better in our own end too but having a goalie in there like Hiller just sucks the confidence out of a team fast.

We could finish with 2 wins and we still won't get Matthews. The Flames aren't lucky like the Oilers, no sense in even thinking about that. People should just stop bringing him up, it's almost as annoying as wasting 3 hours watching this garbage.

So far the Flames are on pace for 42 points

I agree with this, we're all but toast. If we had a competent goalie, I might have a different opinion. But we don't, so we're screwed.

It's crystal clear at this point that what the Flames are missing is the retro reds.

This garbage start to the season begs the question: was last year's success nothing more than a fluke? I don't think it was. But this team is not doing much right now to prove that they're for real. Saw some positives in these last two games, but these guys are nowhere near competitive enough right now to compete for a playoff spot. They'd better turn things around quick, or their season could be toast.

So is it cool if we call it the Matthew Tkachuk sweepstakes?

I thought Hiller made a few big saves in the 1st period to keep the Flames up. We lost this game for reasons other than just goaltending.
