... and add that to the amount they're overpaying Raymond, and the amount they're overpaying Engellend, and the amount they're overpaying Smid, and the amount they're overpaying Bollig, etc. etc.

I think Lance should be happy with this. Happy players are good.

Fair deal. Hopefully he can continue to produce like he did last year. Glad to have him for the next 3 years.

I don't know why there is such a huge fuss and so much debate about Gio and Bouma, and the goalie situation, when I feel like it's Hudler we should all be worrying about. Both the cap repercussions if he signs and the hole he'll leave if he walks.
Glad we will have booms for another 3 years, reasonable cap hit, win all around.

RIP in peace, 15-16 Flames. I wish we had gotten to know you better.

I would prefer that he got less, more like 1.7m or something but this is fine. If it was over 2.5m I would be very unhappy!
I wouldn't go as far as saying this is good for the Flames but it is good for Lance. I hope he is happy and he contributes to success for the next 3 years.
Great piece to the puzzle. And I agree with others that isn't my favorite move by BT this summer.

I think it's a little on the high side but happy for him he got some security given the way he plays. Flames have him locked up for his prime years which is good.

I said good term, high AAV. It's not ridiculous by any stretch of the imagination, though. If he continues to perform as he did this past season then the contract is fine. I think an AAV in the range of $5.5 - $6mil would have been perfect. Not a huge overpayment. Who knows, maybe Bouma shows up ready to play beyond our wildest expectations and makes the contract look like the best value on the team. Time will tell, I suppose.

Nice term and numbers....rather have Bouma at 2.2 than Prust, Nystrom, Comeau or Kreider.
Good signing.

It's too rich, but it's not a contract that matters in the grand scheme of things

That AAV would make the contract worth $16.5M-$18M over three years. Pretty sure you mean $5.5M-$6M over the three years, which would be an AAV of $1.83M-$2M AAV.

So, you know absolutely nothing about Kreider?

If he plays as well as he did last season or improves even the slightest I can't see how anyone wouldn't like the AAV.

Wow some of you are ridiculous complaining about a few hundred thousand. This guy is a warrior on the ice and a leader in the locker room. Pretty sure 400k in the next 3 years won't be the difference for anything significant. Bouma brings a lot and had a successful season. He earned this.

Anyone not liking this deal is nuts. We don't win a lot of those games last year without him.

Good point by Doughbiggin. Essentially Glencross at Glencross' last contract. Minus a year. Has better intangibles IMO. I don't remember for the life of me at all Glencross putting himself willingly in harms way shot blocking.

Love Bouma but I'd trade him for Kreider without thinking twice. Unless you don't mean Chris Kreider.
