So this is better publicity for his company than...intelligence? What a world we live in.

Had forgot to post about this, so figured I'd put my thoughts down on this.
What an idiot this guy is. Hi stupidity annoys me so much, because I can't stand that his ignorance or selfishness endangers other peoples lives. Honestly, I couldn't care less about how dangerous this was for him to do to himself, he's a big boy, he can make his own life choices, that's his business. But the fact that he'd do such a thing, over a crowded city potentially risking the lives of people below him should he fall off of his stupid lawn chair and plummet to the ground, and have his parachute fail or not release, or even have his stupid chair fall to the ground at a rocket speed if all the balloons popped is just so unacceptable.
He should be in jail for his lack of respect for others safety.

Pretty dumb to be honest, "WestJet flight flying underneath me," if he'd been sucked into one of the engines the result could have been disastrous.

C'mon, the chances of any of that happening are so astronomically low. It's for all practical purposes a victimless crime.

You think the chances of him falling off his stupid chair or crash landing somewhere in Calgary were astronomically low?

Whats your definition of astronomically? The chances of anything you suggested happening in what the other poster quoted was essentially zero. Even if he fell out of his stupid chair, the odds of him actually hitting a person is pretty much zero. Do you dive for cover everytime a plane flies overhead? chunks of ice big enough to kill you have been known to fall off them.
If something like this seriously concerns you, your risk analysis is so far out of whack I don't know how you get out of bed every morning, yet alone get in a car. Did you know roughly one out of every 13,000 drivers is going to be killed behind the wheel this year?
Oh and they found his chair about 65km east of the city, it entered a (semi)controlled descent into a farmers field after a bunch of the balloons popped, sadly it did not plummet to earth like a human seeking death missile.

99 balloons would have made for a much catchier song based on this whole event.

Man who flew over Calgary in lawn chair tied to 120 balloons pleads guilty

Man who flew over Calgary in lawn chair tied to balloons calls it 'surreal'
A man who controversially floated over Calgary's Stampede grounds in a lawn chair lifted by 120 helium balloons has pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of an aircraft.
On July 5, 2015, Daniel Boria fashioned the makeshift aircraft and took to the skies in a stunt devised to create buzz for his cleaning products company.
Calgary's balloon man describes soaring over city in lawn chair
Boria's plan was to parachute himself into the Calgary Stampede chuckwagon races, but weather didn't cooperate and high winds forced him to bail early.
He sprained his ankle landing in an industrial field in southeast Calgary, and found himself in trouble with the law.
"I knew I would get arrested, but I didn't think they would pursue it as heavily as they did," Boria told CBC News last year. "I've never done anything wrong before and this was with good intentions."
Calgary police initially charged him with one count of mischief causing danger to life.
Sentencing is expected later Thursday in a Calgary courtroom.
The joint sentencing submission asks for a $5,000 fine and a $30,000 anonymous donation to charity.
