I don't see how you can compare the history and culture of a city/region like Paris to that of Calgary. They are hundreds of years apart in age.

So to fix this, do you think we should cowboy the #### out of our cultural scene?

And as far as her cabinet is concerned....regardless of experience she will surround herself with like thinkers.

I still cannot believe that the voters could be so damn stupid.

She has a full majority and carte blanche for the next 4 years and there is not a thing we the public can do about it.

So I guess if he can't stop Notley, he's going to pick on the next politician he thinks lies too far to the left.

Go get 'em, tiger!
He's also sad that his company's massive earnings from selling thousands of quick stick homes at the edge of sprawl has dried up.

What exactly have you done to contribute to this city's cultural footprint, besides criticize it?

Other than staying up for 48 hours during the floods and gay rights marching he is pretty unimpressive.

1) Most people move to Calgary for just one thing...money.
2) Most people can hardly wait to make enough money to go back to where they came from and therefore have no interest in building community.
3) Calgary IS urban sprawl, any attempt at building the downtown core as something other than a ghost town other than business hours should have happened about 40 years ago.
4) In terms of culture....Winnipeg has more culture than Calgary can dream of.
5) History....Calgary is a VERY young city and acts like it.

Calgary is what it is...you can throw a bunch of money into this, that and the next thing to try to establish some kind of identity but really what it comes down to is that we are largely a city of get rich fast transients that will leave on a dime when it all goes south.

I know...can you also believe that there's vehicle lanes going both directions on Macleod too? Nenshi should get on fixing that.

Calgarians like to vote for the same guys until they quit themselves, Klein, Duerr, Bronco all held the post for almost 10 years. So Nenshi will, at this rate, have 5 more years left. Let's see how many bike lanes we can build in this time.

That would raise about $7.50 per year...

Nenshi should focus on putting segregated car lanes on the bike roads.

The challenge is that the original developer of midfield cheaped out. so the Calgary ratepayers are askd to spend millions to fix the orignal decision to go cheap on local infrastructure....

money to fix the broken infrastructure might be better spent on a new location

Okay, that's enough of that...

So, as I said, the leadership of the city is a valid topic, especially for a Calgary-based forum, however, the tone of this thread isn't conducive to any decent discussion.
