Meanwhile claims he is for affordable housing yet is kicking many people out of mayfield park after giving residents assurances that they won't be left with nowhere to go and the city had land for them. Such a prick.

And as far as her cabinet is concerned....regardless of experience she will surround herself with like thinkers.
I still cannot believe that the voters could be so damn stupid.
She has a full majority and carte blanche for the next 4 years and there is not a thing we the public can do about it.
So I guess if he can't stop Notley, he's going to pick on the next politician he thinks lies too far to the left.
Go get 'em, tiger!

Calgary is what it is...you can throw a bunch of money into this, that and the next thing to try to establish some kind of identity but really what it comes down to is that we are largely a city of get rich fast transients that will leave on a dime when it all goes south.

Question - In what way is a Bike Path artsy?
Answer - Most people move to Calgary for just one thing . . . Money.

Maybe that was Calgary in the early 90's, but that would be such a pathetic city to live in. I certainly demand more than that from the city I chose to call home.

I really didn't think the stupidity of bike paths on both sides of Macloed Trail were worthy of discussion.

They way to keep them here is to make it a city thats more than just about money. "Artsy" things like bike paths and culture do that.
By doing nothing, you will keep making sure people leave.

Cities are here for hundreds of years, not for one generation. You have to start somewhere. Otherwise in 40 years your kids will be making the same complaint.

In many ways, that's true. Let's change that.

Go look at where Toronto and Vancouver were 100 years ago. Or Dubai or Shanghai. Things change, cities evolve. If Calgary is so young, why have you already declared what it is, and what it always will be? Doesn't it seem to reason that there is plenty of room for change and improvement?

Thanks for giving up on your city so fast. Are you sure you're not a Nucks fan?

If I gave up on Calgary I would be gone, was a bit of a Canucks fan at one time but the riots changed all that...######ing greaseballs.

Typically culture is derived from history and it cannot be bought.
This city keeps on trying to invent culture by throwing money at it, it does not seem to work that way.

I think something can be said for Calgary's Western heritage being a cultural identifier of the city more so than any other Canadian city.

It doesn't? You mean amazing things like museums, bike friendly environments and other social projects should spring up organically over time? I wonder if the Louvre was built by throwing money at it for culture or if it just sorta happened.
