Yup. Me too. Walk into FS and be asked literally 5 times if I need help as I walk along. Go into BB and just look comfortably and find what I want. I don't need some teenage nerd to tell me what I want or continue to bother me.

I believe one of the reasons they ask you again and again and again if you need assistance is because it deters would-be shoplifters, intimidates them--especially just as you walk in. I cant remember where I heard/read that, but kind of makes sense.

Really? I'd love that service. In my experience in any big electronics store, it feels like there's an average of 1 employee per 50 customers. Next to impossible to get assistance when you need it.

To my knowledge, the shawnessy future shop will not be converted to a best buy. My friend who is a long time employee of that store had posted on Facebook that he's looking for a new job.
Edit, it will be changed into a best buy.

All Future Shop stores in Canada Closing
Damn this is crazy, I just found out by checking the future shop app for a laptop. Does anyone know if I can use my future shop gift card at best buy now??
From cbc site
Best Buy will honour Future Shop gift cards at any location across the country. Existing product orders, service appointments and warranties will continue to be honoured, and Future Shop purchases can be returned or exchanged at any Best Buy location.

For sure, as well as the Sobey's that are sitting empty right now.
Not to sound too crass, as I feel for the jobs lost, but there should be much more retail help available these days.

OMG, they were hilarious, they were so bad.
Anyone remember the one guy in Soundsaround on Macleod with all the gold chains and bling? Used to go there just for his schtick!

I found here in Lethbridge at least, that the service I got from Best Buy was as good as Futureshop. I even had a case where a Best Buy employee explained to me that he doesn't work on commission, and just wants to help me.
Maybe I look like a sketchy shoplifter.
Another time at Best Buy, my buddy and I went in for some special sale, and we asked an employee what was on sale (things weren't clearly marked), and instead of brushing us off, he went and printed out a list of EVERYTHING that was on sale. I felt bad for the trees.
But like others, I prefer to be left alone when I shop. Most of the time I just like to wander around and look at things, and if I am going to buy something, I'm typically much better versed in the product than most employees.; there are a couple of gooders in the computer and TV sections here.

Yeah can't remember, but that sounds about right.
Many, many years ago, a work buddy and him got into some kinda scrap in the store on Boxing Day. Apparently there was a TV at some crazy price that buddy was gonna buy and only one left, but he didn't have enough cash on him. Farzi said he'd hold it while he went to the ABM. He came back and Farzi sold it to someone else. All hell broke loose. Allegedly Farzi ended up on his ass, and buddy in the drunk tank. Lesson learned, do not mix drinking and Boxing Day shopping, along with high pressure commission sales!

It is kind of ridiculous how is a lot of areas, Futershop and Best Buy exist practically next door in the same big-bog shopping complexes. It was pretty redundant.
Honestly, bricks and mortar stores are going the way of the dodo.

How long before Memory Express goes this route? I hate to think that would happen but bricks and mortar retail electronics is kind of like the Blockbuster of it's time now...

I remember him being the master of the 'Hard Press.' I went in there with a friend who was looking for a car stereo and this guy was always in your face, he didnt care what he sold you he just had to sell you something.

Yeah, but who goes to a boxing day sale without enough cash? Or the proper means to pay?
