I look forward to the Oilers' letter to the fans expressing their dismay at how this fell apart and that they're considering pursuing legal options.

Maybe Mac T and Lowe will throw in Hall and RNH.

Got to get something done to prove to the fans they know what they're doing.

Further to @Aportzline tweet, was told this am CLB is not at all keen on trading Anisimov. Good player.
Another "at least we're trying!!"

This one is straight out of the "Official Edmonton Oilers 2009 Playbook."

Did they send Anisimov the infamous DVD? They should try it, it could help.

In the meantime Anisimov is probably outside washing the GM's car, walking his dog and picking up his dry-cleaning.

Moving Perron isn't the answer the Oulers need to shakeup the big 3 and Eberle needs to be the guy to go honestly trading Hall would send the biggest shockwaves through that room but it will never happen.

Strome/Nelson+Reinhart for Hall would be a win for both teams.

Moving Perron changes little. Oilers won't trade Hall. Trading RNH doesn't make good sense when you looking for help down the middle. No one will give up anything for Yakupov.

Eberle is all there is, if bold moves are required

And even still, that wouldnt be bold enough.

That team is so riddled with holes that you really need to raze it to the ground and salt the earth.

IMO RNH should be the only untouchable on the roster as he looks like he can be a serviceable top 6 center for his career. It's been proven you win Stanley Cups by being built around a strong center foundation not wingers and as prolific a player as Hall is the Oilers would have been further ahead drafting Seguin. After living through the Flames trying and failing to build a cup winner around a winger I would only expect failure if the Oilers try this with Hall. The Jackets tried to build a team around Rich Nash and it failed. The Wild tried to build a team around Gaborik and it failed. The Canucks could never do anything when building around Naslund. Wingers are important but more as complementary parts as it's all about the center position.

Maybe the oilers should give Cervenka a call.

It really underlines the stupidity of letting Horak go.

No, trading Perron isn't the 'answer' , and it doesn't solve their problems.

But that doesn't change the fact that it would be a good move to get a C. There is no reason to think (other than the fact that Edmonton is no good) that it would be the only move. Or the biggest one.

Which makes that darren haynes tweet all the funnier.

The last time the oilers beat a western conference team, one of the goal scorers was a Centre who the oilers let walk away.

Point per game AHL player.

Who cares, we have a top draft pick!

Agree that Eberle is the big name that makes the most sense to move out. Wonder what a package of Eberle, Perron, and Schultz would net?

I don't know if it would have moved the needle much, but I wonder how things would have been for the Oilers and Draisiatl if Horak and Gagner would have been kept.

RNH - Gagner - Horak - Draisiatl isn't going to blow anyone's doors off, but it keeps Leon on sheltered minutes and Horak might have grown into a serviceable 3rd/4th line center. The plan to move out centres and simply acquire or sign replacements that would be superior is staggeringly stupid.

Well, considering that's a combined cap hit of $13.5m for 2 small wingers (one of whom has regressed and completely checked out), plus one of the worst defensemen in the NHL, I'd guess not too much.

I think the clock has run down some, or is about to on Eberle. If I cared about the Oil, I'd worry it's too late already (to get big return).
More are starting to see him for what I think he is/has become. But Eberle/Schultz package could net something big, though in my mind it shouldn't.

I don't think we will see it anyway. More shuffling...

You're right. Setoguchi and Engelland most likely at best. Maybe Baertschi too if you catch Treliving on an off day.

Probably Weber and Forsberg. Nashville may have to add though.

That isn't a great collection of Cs - certainly bottom half of the league - but it is still a completely different kettle of fish from the ****show they have now, which can only be described as the worst collection of Cs since the early days of expansion.

So yeah, that would have been an infinitely better plan. And, as you said, would have allowed them to shelter Draisaitl.

RNH
Gagner
Gordon
Horak

They would still suck, but at least it wouldn't be so ruinous on a freshly drafted rookie who can't keep up with the pace of the game.

You brought it up - what do you think it would fetch?
