Smid is awful, so is Diaz. Net result? Nada

I might get flamed for this, but I thought he was better than Gaudreau in the WHC. Gaudreau's flashes were far brighter than anything Johnson had, but his play stood out every time his skates not the ice. I was incredibly impressed

Smid also took that high hit (followed by being pounded into the ice) in the last game. He could be hurting or speed could be the determiner.

The game is in Tampa, why would they be wearing the thirds? And yes, they have won at least two games while wearing them.

Pumped for tonights game, can't wait to see how the flames do in the Lightning's home barn. A couple weeks ago they stole a point from us, hoping tonight the flames can return the favor. Better yet... the flames can 'earn' two points tonight against the bolts. Before now, I always thought that the best thing for the flames as an organization was another high draft pick to introduce an even higher level of skill into our club. Now my thoughts have changed. Not quite ready to say that they will make the playoffs, but holy **** do I love their work ethic and compete. There will be times where our lack of 'experience' from our more skilled players will show, but this team is taking strides and my gut feeling tells me there will be a lot more ups with this team than downs in the forseeable future. The cupboards are no longer bare, and the call-ups have shown they are capable of playing at the NHL level. It's a wonderful time to be a flames fan.

I have been very happy with the way Jones has played this year, right from his first game back from injury. And this is the first time in a long time that I don't see it as a demotion to the 4th line. That 4th line has been very good for us and is a big reason we are winning games. I think they have another good night tonight.
Reading Flames news and Hartley quotes make me all giddy.

Pretty good depth on the Flames this year

Definitely. It's hard not to be amazed at the depth this time around on forwards. Rag-tag bunch is only just the tip of the iceberg for us.

I was hoping they'd break this line up...clearly not a lot of chemistry here.

The line spacing here hurts my precious designer eyes. Can I send them a fixed version?

I have to admit when I'm wrong.....
I am still 100% confused on Jooris' Skill, Speed, Heart, Energy, Hands, IQ..... everything. And confused in a GOOD way.
I've seen him play a handful of games, and followed NCAA pretty hard in recent years.... I just dont know where this skill set is coming from but it's pure awesomeness. I'm hoping for a good night from him to keep this roll going.
I'm just worried one day he will wake up and realize he is Josh Jooris..... but I hope that day never comes.

Going to the game tonight! Centre Ice, 12th row, $80 a pop! Gotta love soft hockey markets in warm locations!

Yep, I had similar tickets in Tampa when I watched the Flames a few years ago. Expect some minor chirping as a hangover from 2004.

Trouble is - you break up that line, you break up other lines. Funny though, it should work - Byron carries the puck with speed, Sven passes/Setoguchi bangs/retrieves, shoots. They should at least create chances.

theoretically yes. But in reality, you have three players with little confidence. Byron has missed a ton of chances this season and he hasn't scored a goal since the season opener. Setoguchi has been in and out of the press box, he hasn't scored a point yet and he has received a lot of flack from fans and media. And Sven has seen numerous prospects overtake him on the depth chart, even a guy like Jooris has moved ahead of him in the pecking order. Last game, he played 7 minutes or so. No one of those three have any momentum going for them. No idea which one of those three has it in them at the moment to get this line going.

That line should also be showing some jump. I'd guess both Sven and Setoguchi are on the clock.

All 3 are in the dumps right now and I just dont think keeping them together will help any of them. I think Hartley has given Setoguchi plenty of chances on the PP the last few days to get things going...he is playing a little better, but not really being impactful. Im hoping he can give Sven the same opportunity.
Byron just needs to convert on one of the 3 breakaways per game he gets and he'll be fine...he's the least of my worries of that line.
