Yeah the guy has a total of 55 games in the QMJHL, people need to lower their immediate expectations. You can't expect him to be lights out at this point. He'll spend two more years in juniors and probably at least 2 years in the AHL before he has a chance at an NHL Spot.

These cuts were inevitable. Hoped for more, though I understand why not.

Exactly this.. Also if management knows he isn't pushing for someone else's job, why waste valuable minutes/commit the resources. He's young, lots of opportunity left

Interesting that Carroll could have been sent to Adirondack this season, but they chose to give him another year of junior.

Yeah, just going by what others have been saying, it sounded like he might be ready for the AHL.

another year in the dub won't hurt him. We likely have too many forwards for Addy as it is.

More likely he would have been with the Eagles.
It makes sense, Victoria basically committed to bringing Carroll back when they traded away one of their prospective overagers to bring their number of 20 year olds down to the max level.

I'm assuming we will see a decent amount of cuts sometime over the weekend, we are still carrying a large roster.

Yep. Royals need Carroll bad, especially after trading Hodges away.
I was worried he was going to go to the AHL. I mean, I want what's best for him, but I was just hoping one more year in the WHL was what was best for him.

I thought Carroll might have earned a contract and AHL roster spot, but I guess this makes sense. The Flames drafted Hun to retain his rights without a contract and jrs will allow Carroll to develop his offensive game a bit more. He's a few years away anyways and Penticton/training camp has really raised his stock in the organization.

Surprised Kanzig and a few others are still around that are junior eligible, I thought getting them back to their teams early would be a priority.

Kanzig stuck around pretty late last year, so maybe they are doing that again. He's already signed (I know he cant play in the AHL) but perhaps the Flames are trying to use the time they have with him to its full use.

I just want to add that it makes a lot of sense from the Flames perspective to let him develop on the first line here in Vic than to send him to play on the fourth line in Addy.

The pre-season schedule itself dictated many players would be around until after todays game. Today is game 5 but there was a split squad game and then a set of 3 in 3.
