From what I can tell, the ones who started Backlund making the team are the ones from Team 1040, the same guys who were speculating that Crawford would be the next coach of the Calgary Flames because he stumbled about some questions about Calgary's weather.
No one from Sweden is actually reporting this.

I have my fingers crossed for Backs, he is playing the best hockey of his career and finally showing why he was going to be a high draft pick until his knee injury sidetracked him during his draft year. He is showing the confidence he had as a junior aged player, good on him if it is true he has made the squad.

It would be good for Backlund if he gets to play for Sweden in the Olympics. He has had a good season so far, and deserves a chance to prove himself internationally.
