Boring Sean Monahan @boringmonahan
I was going to text Steven Stamkos to say sorry about not being able to play in the Olympics but I can't because I don't have his number.

Not sure how that makes him "American".
Giroux or St.Louis you can't really go wrong.
One thing to note with St.Louis though is that even though he plays RW, he is a Left handed shot. That could play a role considering the coaching staff's preference for having a balance number of shots on the team.
IMO they should both be on the team and Jeff Carter shouldn't have been there to start with but that is a different argument.

Yea I was being harsh, but I would much rather see St. Louis on the team.
And absolutely St. Louis > Giroux >>>>>> Carter. Carter being on the team makes very little sense to me.

Giroux or St Louis. No one else.
Edit: I would actually have no problem with MacKinnon. As a 13th forward, speed, youthful energy - groom him for next time.
It was a huge mistake not to take Crosby in 2006.

Thornton is also reasonable option.
Personally I'd like for Jeff Carter to please contract some sort of rare, debilitating disease that only lasts one month before full recovery so that we can get both MSL and Giroux on the team as they should have been to begin with.

I don't hate Carter, but yeah, MSL and Giroux should both be there.

I'd be okay with James Neal as well. He is having an excellent season and is a pure goal scorer. Left handed shot though, not sure if they're worried about that with forwards or not.

I actually see it being Giroux.
Original Roster had 8 left handed shots and 6 Right Handed Shots in the forward group.
Replacing Stamkos with Giroux keeps that ratio the same, replace him with St.Louis and it goes to 9 Left Handed and 5 Right Handed (with only 3 RH wingers Carter, Perry, Sharp).
Put St.Louis on the team and you have 6 Left Handed wingers (St.Louis, Benn, Duchene, Kunitz, Marleau, Nash).
With how the coaching staff and management group were so adamant about having a balanced line up with an equal number of LH and RH I would be surprised if they add another lefty to the lineup. Probably a reason Carter made the team in the first place.

It would be awesome to see Iginla wear the Canada jersey again, but the likelihood is very slim to none.
Giroux would be a good choice as a replacement, but I would prefer seeing a natural winger go in. St. Louis or Neal are good alternatives.
Out of the box, I know, but how about Jeff Skinner? He is a young player and has had 23 goals so far in the season. Would be good to take someone with youth as well.

Carter is fine to have on the team. Big, speedy forward with a great shot. Will be good on PK.
But having BOTH Carter and Marleau seems dumb to me. It should've been one or the other and I would pick Carter.
Marleau should be off.
St.Louis, Giroux should be on.

I agree with others, the RH shot of Giroux could be the deciding factor. Canada doesn't really lose though with whoever they choose.

St. Louis is having a great year and has the sentimental factor going for him, but I think that Giroux is a better fit for that lineup.

Call me old fashioned but you don't groom a player at the Olympics of all places.
This is essentially the pinnacle of competition as far as hockey is concerned and there is no place for passengers. You field the best team you can at the present time and Mackinnon is not in that league yet.
