I was in the bar playing pool on the weekend and some guy bumped my pool cue while I was taking a shot. I'm sure he did it intentionally. Anyway, I became enraged and temporarily insane and smashed him in the mouth with my pool cue. People seemed to be shocked that I did that but he was clearly looking for trouble and got what he deserved. I told the police that I shouldn't be punished for that because he had it coming. Cause and effect and all that stuff you know.

Keith by slashing Carter in the face intentionally did it in that split moment as a reminder don't eff with me Carter he was saying.
His temper got the best of him and i think he felt sorry afterwards once he became sane again.
But there is no doubt in my mind Keith snapped for that moment and only wanted to get more than even with Carter.
You may think it is Neanderthal but this is contact sports with emotion.
Cause and effect.
Bro this isn't checkers it's chess.

Uh, I played descent hockey growing up and my coach would flip if i did something stupid like Kieth did. OBVIOUSLY you get the guy back....but you dont do something like that. Take his number, get him later, dont slash the guy in the face with your stick. Now Kieth, their number 1 dman is suspended. Stupid play all around.

exactly you take a number and get him back on the next shift with a crunching hit or later on in a scrum or or my personal favorite rake the ribs in the corner. Agree you don't slash him in the face.

Your analogy is lacking some pretty major details. Like massive monetary gains between you and that other guy based on the outcome of that game of pool. And a history of violence leading up to and immediately before the incident at the pool table.

Exactly.
Mcsorley got banned from the NHL for his slash...Keith only got 1 game? should be more IMO

Right, pretend we were playing for $100, that would justify me in assaulting him with a weapon.

Can you point out where he, or others, have said it was justified? The post that you attempted to mock with your sarcastic response quite clearly said that the response was not justified.

Keith deserves the game for hitting Carter in the face with his stick.
All in all, everything turned out correctly.

Now Carter has 20 stitches and 3 chipped teeth as a reminder not to slash a players ungloved hand and Keith misses a game with LA improving their chance to even up the series. A reminder to Keith you can't smack guys in the face with your stick even though Carter was trying to break a finger etc.

Looked to me like Carter was being a dick and looking to impede Keith from picking up his glove. Regardless, swinging your stick at his head is not an appropriate response.

The first two sure, but the last one, the one you mocked expressly says "A reminder to Keith you can't smack guys in the face with your stick even though Carter was trying to break a finger etc." Seems like a pretty poor way to say it was justified when the poster said 'you can't do that'.

I wasn't responding to any particular post, just the general opinion that Carter got what he deserved.

The only way Carter "got what he deserved" is if he had slashed someone else in the face.

Curious Jacks, by quoting me what exactly are you thinking I'm implying is justified. If you think my response is justifying Keith's actions, then I'm sorry you have no clue what your talking about

It doesn't justify or excuse the actions of the retaliator but the guy getting hit with a pool cue in the face deserves it. Same with the guy punching someone in the face and getting shot example. In all of these situations you have a person who is for a lack of a better word being a dick and getting hurt for it.
The guy getting hurt deserves it and could have prevented it. This doesn't change the fact that the person retaliating needs to be punished for their action as well.
The statement that they both got what they deserved is a reasonable statement.

Hopefully you now understand the difference and no one is saying Keith had the green light to carve Carter up.

Well, your eyes and teeth aren't located on your hand so there's that.

I think that Carter was just knocking his glove away. Not trying to hit him on his bare hand. I used to do the same thing when someone dropped their stick. Hilarious to me and infuriating to them. Dumb move by Keith and deserving of more than one game IMO.
In the footage I saw, looked more like Keith was chirping him afterwards too. Not apologizing.
