As much as I want a good draft pick for the team and the future, happy for Kipper and happy the Flames have some pride.

That being said, 3 of the worst goals I've ever seen in one game.

We swept the season series against the Wings for the first time side the late 80's that's something to be proud of and a win to honor because of the goalie who got it. Ya the draft is important, but we are talking about the best goalie this franchise has ever had, I would hope the people cheering for this team to tank out could atleast be happy for the guy who carried this team on his back since 04. I couldn't be happier with the game tonight. Congrats Kipper!!

I want MacKinnon (or one of the top three) as much as anyone, but you don't "need" a top 3-5 pick to build a winner.....sure it helps, but it's not the only blueprint for success.

So yeah, FU Wings. I hope your playoff streak ends finally.

I am really shocked how anyone would put the stock of a draft pick over a win for their team. I'd take a win over anyone, including idiots like Detroit any day than the future of a draft pick that may or may not work out for the team. If history has taught any sports franchise anything (aside from maybe the NBA), you shouldn't put your eggs in one basket. Then again, maybe it's just that cheering to lose is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard of.

Sure but I would rather have the elite level player and hope to get lucky with later picks rather than just hope to get lucky with later picks.

Wasn't Iginla 11th, Gilmour 102 ? Not sure on the exact numbers, but close.....Anything is possible in the draft! And there are no sure things in hockey!

what an obnoxious team. fold up like a tent all season, start getting hot near the end when they realistically should just be mailing it in.

maybe we can trade up and get mackinnon.....?

I am shocked that anyone would put a meaningless win over the future success of their team.

Damn, I was so ready to shut you down and show that they still technically can make it, then saw that both Columbus and Detroit play Dallas still this season. That means if they both lose out the rest of their games Dallas ends up with at least 49 points, mathematically eliminating the Flames.

4-2 stretch while everybody else in the draft pick race is just ice cold.

I agree that the worst part is how they mailed it in while we still had Iginla and Bouwmeester and actually could have made the playoffs and are killing themselves now that it is totally meaningless.

We're like the Valeri Bure of hockey teams.

These games have had great showings from our youth which I take as a positive because the 4-4 record since the Iggy trade is helping build confidence in a group that probably shouldn't be winning any games. I'd rather our current crop of prospects gain confidence going into next year even if it means we drop a few spots out of the top 3. We are not Edmonton after all.

It wasn't meaningless to all of the fans at the Dome, it wasn't meaningless to Kipper, and it sure as hell wasn't meaningless to Begin, who has scored 2 goals in his last 35 games. Carpe Diem moon. Carpe Diem.

The team is 4-7 since the Iginla trade and 4-4 since the deadline with 3 of those wins being pretty weak efforts (Phoenix, Colorado and tonight).

Not sure how losing a majority of the games since the Iginla trade and being .500 since the deadline is really building confidence but considering outside of the Oilers games the play has been overall pretty weak it doesn't seem to be showing on the ice.
