I was trying to refer to their style of play and what they bring to a team.
Glencross is a tougher player, will finish checks, great shot, takes stupid penalties, can be lazy sometimes. Erat is more of a playmaker/pass first guy, pretty soft, seems like he has better hockey sense imo.
I see your point about age/contract/salary...to be picky they don't play the same position
Production-wise Stempniak is pretty much an Erat equivalent.
I wish Feaster would've just dangled all our vets including Scoreface and Gio (as great as they are) to both Washington and Tampa if kids like Forsberg and Conacher were available. Though looks like Tampa really wanted the goalie.
Love how we think we can plug Flames players into the same trade.
Everybody knew Feaster was open for trades, and Im sure there were lots of discussions, but in the end no deals hapened.
If Forsberg was available for Erat, the 1st, 2nd were available for Cammy, etc the trades would have happened. Its quite obvious we were not offered these packages and the GMs were targeting players they really liked, they had to be with packages like this one.
Still not happy we couldn't move Tanguay or Cammy afyer seeing these returns but i doubt its as easy as just plugging our guys into these ttades.

No wonder the SE sucks. Capitals and Hurricane GM's making insane trades and contracts. Winnipegs overrated and imploding team is left in tact, and Tampa ... well.. I like Stevie Y so no bashing there. I like what moves he made so far tbh.

I'm just wondering, is Erat even worth more then Stempniak. I'm sure we would have all been doing backfilps even if it was Stempniak + Sarich or Butler for Forsberg.
Washington got owned on this trade.
That being said lots of NHL scouts seem to be down on him right now, dropped 6 or 7 spots in the draft. Traded away within one year of being drafted.
So we have all probably missed something here.
Erat and Stempniak are not comparable players in any way.
People are hideously underating Erat here. He plays in one of the least offensive systems in hockey. He typically leads that offence.
Erat is one of the most skilled shooters and danglers in the NHL. He's also very solid on his skates at 200lbs. Think a much better version of Huselius. Erat will do very well playing along with other offensively minded players in Washington. You have to look a little beyond Erat's stats, as he plays for Nashville.
