What kind of card would you recommend for mid and high? I would prefer to have a Nvidia card but if the savings are enough I would go ATI.
I upgraded my card over the summer so I have a Radeon HD 5850 just sitting around. It's yours if you want it.

To be honest, I haven't played games on my PC for some time When my job turned into working on computers all day, I started drifting to my couch (and the dark side) when I got home. Therefore, I'm not up to date with the newest videocards like I used to be fanatical about.

I still have a powerful crossfire rig using dual unlocked 6950s though. For the Q6600, something like that 5850 (again has some good overclocking headroom) would be okay.

I've got an old pc that was pretty good when I had it. I'll sell the parts

-1GB Geforce 8800
-q6600
-6 gb ddr2 ram
-600W (I think) psu
-tuniq tower cooler
-decent mid size box (this one I'd sell the cheapest, like $10 if anyone wants it)

I'd sell them at a ridiculously cheap price if anyone needs spare parts

Well Stealth is awesome. Gave me his better than advertised HD 5870!

Got it installed last night and it works great. Haven't gotten a chance to run it through it's paces though.

Hack my processor is the B3 revision like yours. I have Kingston Value RAM though...it might not be up for the speed increase. I'll have to check into that.

If the memory is not up to running at the higher front side bus speed, use the memory divider to keep the ram at lower speeds.

Started playing Tomb Raider last night for a few hours, so far it's a really good game, like the graphics and the game seems to be well made. Gotta turn my settings up to ultra now to see if it can get better.

Also have been playing Crysis 3 and that's been good in the brief time I've played it. Crysis 1 was good but my computer then couldn't really handle it well, so I unfortunately got crysis 2 for PS3. Back to PC for 3 and loving it, infinite times better game play for the game. Like the graphics now that I have a computer that can handle it on high settings.

Is Crysis a pure shooter or is it more story driven?

It kind of falls in the middle. There's a story, and it's not a terrible one, and there's lots of shooting.

What makes Crysis stand out however, is the suit mechanics, which are a lot of fun and make you feel super powerful compared to a run n gun game.

I enjoy a good story, its the only way I could endure a shooter. I'm told mass effect 3 is a must get for the story alone

It's rare that games do both well (see: Half-Life 2), but if you lean more towards story but still like shooting dudes, Spec Ops: The Line is very recommendable, though it's pretty

I've recommended Spec Ops: The Line before and I'll join PsYcNeT in doing so again. Fantastic story. I haven't played a game that's made me step back and think like Spec Ops has in a long time.

Mass Effect is great but don't do yourself a disservice by starting with the third game in the series. The best part about the third game is interacting with characters that you've encountered in the previous entries. Start with the first Mass Effect.

ME3 still has a good story, it's just the ending that sucks and alot of people think that makes it a bad storyline. But I enjoyed playing most of it.

I am confused... At no point did I say the story was bad in ME3. I just tried to politely say that starting with the last game in a series is dumb.

My issue with Crysis after beating it, is that while it looks pretty, it is way way to linear. You see all these amazing Vistas of a New York Wasteland, but never really get to play it. The game drives you from one set piece to the next, and will open up a bit here and there., but you are never given multiple routes to go anywhere.

Far Cry 3, on the other hand, let you go anywhere you could see.

Funny how the games have reversed.
