I've been a Falcons fan since the day they drafted Michael Vick. He blew my mind the first time I watched him play. He was such a dynamic QB back then.
Since he's left, I've remained a Falcons fan for several reasons. Classy guys like Tony Gonzalez and John Abraham lead the team. Matt Ryan is another classy guy even though I'm a little wary of his ability to get it done. It's also been nice that the Falcons have fielded a very competitive team the last few years.
Tampa's legendary and awesome strip clubs are why I chose the Bucs. Or maybe it was because I love defense and the Bucs defense of the late 90's/early 2000's was innovative on top of being really bad ass. Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber will always be my favorite Bucs.

I have no favorite team. I liked the Colts when they had Manning, don`t really care about them anymore. I never liked the Bronco`s until this year (when they got Manning). What I am getting at is I just like individual players. I like Adrian Peterson, but I could care less about the Vikings. I liked the Rams back when they had Tory Holt and Isaac Bruce and Kurt Warner, not I could car less once again.
I just really don`t like the Patriots; hate them. Which is odd because I like Tom Brady.
Became a Colts fan when I was about ~6 in the late 90s when the only American family I have moved to Bloomington, Indiana. Props to 6 year old me for making a really good choice.
Most popular teams right now: Patriots, Packers, Cowboys, Giants, Colts, Broncos, Ravens, Steelers, Redskins, 49ers, Bears, Saints
Best Teams: Patriots, 49ers, Packers, Broncos, Ravens, Falcons
Ownership: Best ownership is arguably the Steelers
Crest/Colour: Can't go wrong with the blue & white and the horseshoe of the Colts but I might be biased
If I was picking a new team to follow it would either be the Bengals (really good young core, lots of cap space) or the Rams (young up and coming team)

Mostly, because I live in Vancouver and they are the closest team. After going to oh so many NHL games as the away teams fan (and watching the Flames get absolutely anhihilated), it's fun to be on the home side. Also really helps that Wilson and Lynch are two of the most exciting players in the league right now.
May not choose which team to support depending on close by strip club, but now I know what do do while Iīm in Miami.
I have a lot of relatives in Minnesota, but somehow I just donīt like the name "Vikings", kind of lame. For some reason, Vikings have always been a bigger thing outside of Scandinavia, than in it.
I have narrowed it down a bit (added a new criteria: Shouldn'tīt have an NHL team)..
Colts (great colours, being a music buff, 30% and Guns N roses comes from Indianapolis, seems to be a good guy owning
Seahawks (A lot of you seems to like the fans here)
Bengals (not sure about ownership)
No one's sure if ownership (Mike Brown) knows what he's doing, you get used to it. Or you can join the revolution--fun! http://www.whodeyrevolution.com/
I don't think you really 'choose' a favorite team. Your favorite team should become your favorite team because after following the league for a while, there is something you like about them.
I dunno, favorite sports teams just kinda happen. CHOOSING one, seems fake and forced.

Yep I agree. How we end up with our favourite teams is so arbitrary.
I chose the Flames because they happened to win the first game I saw on TV. I didn't even know they won until the next day. From that point forward, Flames fan through thick and thin until death.
Nolan Ryan considered to be one of the best pitchers of all time was playing with the Texas Rangers. Bam, Rangers fan since 1990.
Are those legitimate reasons to devote your sports lives to a franchise? Is being from the same region a team is based a legitimate reason? Yet we develop religious passion for these teams.
When you meet a Canucks fan isn't there something you don't like about them, just because. No reason other than their parents happened to have sex in BC?
I have thought numerous times about how to chose an NFL team. But there's no "real" way. Not in your 30s.
I like the no NHL team rule, so I'd have to extend a no MLB rule also.
No one from where I'm from cheers for my teams, I mean NO ONE. So I wouldn't want a "popular" team (Colts, Patriots, Packers, Steelers).
I'd prefer an east coast team but not necessary as my two favourite teams as is are western based.
I'd like an organization that is community based, but I'm sure most if not all give back to the community in various ways.
It can't be a team a number of my friends like despite the teams lack of overall popularity (Bengals for example, how I know a crapload of long time did hard Benghals fans I'll never know).
But at the end of the day I think cheering for teams about how I feel about them in that moment, no affiliation, hatred for the Patriotsoght be good enough for now?

Completely random how I became a Saints fan, just caught them on TV one time about 20 years ago, loved the unis, loved the stadium atmosphere, they pulled out a thrilling win (I didn't realize how rare that was at the time, had no idea what I had signed myself up for), and now here we are..
Personally though, I'm not a believer in forcing a team on yourself before you even start watching. I say just be a general NFL fan & watch as much as you can, and eventually (may even take a few years) you'll find yourself warming up to whatever team for whatever reasons. Basically how I became a Saints fan.
EDIT: Didn't see pylon's post a couple above. Pretty much what he said, regarding my last part. Agreed, it does seem fake/forced.
Seahawks Fan. Only NFL team on local tv here for years. I think also growing up when they were one of the worst teams in Football has helped me grow attached to them.
Also, love Seattle and the stadium there kicks butt!
It's tough to just choose a favorite. There has to be something about them that you like. I would start by watching some games and see what teams you take to and go from there
Kansas City Chiefs....I cheer for the underdogs and it doesn't get any more underdog that that lately.
Chiefs fan here too. I remember the game that made me a Chiefs fan, I was always a football fan but didn't have a team. Living in Halifax as a Jays and Flames fan I grew to hate everything Boston/New England. I just happened to sit down and watch the CHiefs demolish the Patriots and I was hooked. http://www.pro-football-reference.co...9012020nwe.htm
Although last season was abismal, things are looking up. Arrowhead Stadium is considered one of the best live NFL games to attend, I can't wait until I make it to a game there someday.
Location: Chiefs Kingdom, Yankees Universe, C of Red.

I don't think you can just pick a team out of the blue and become a die hard fan. It usually is some thing that attracts you to the team and keeps you hooked. Actually, it would be nice not be a die hard fan of an NFL team once in a while. I would love to be able to watch NFL Red Zone every sunday. But, I'm glued to the Chiefs game so I can't watch NFL Red Zone.
