I went down and turned around. I figure I will follow the twitter accounts of the trucks I want to try when the crowds aren't as bad.

They were also talking about this on Global news this morning; which I'm sure helped increased the number of people who turned out.

I hope the burgers are better than they look. From the ones I saw people eating on Stephen Avenue I'm not sure you could tell the difference between an Alley Burger and a Peter's Burger.

Having had both, it's not even close.
It's been a few years since I last ate at Peter's, but IIRC they use frozen burger patties. Alley Burgers are hand-made pork & garlic sausage patties topped with cheese curds and piri piri aioli. They also have a 100% Angus beef burger, but I haven't tried it yet.

I walked to Stephen ave on my lunch to get an Alley burger from their food truck
I left with a Big Mac (as well as a Fillet O Fish and medium fries) from McDonalds
That line was way too long.

I won't buy another one in years, if ever

Are these not the same burgers at Charcut? If so, why not just go to Charcut? Yeah, its a bit more, but then you're not lining up for 1.5 hrs...

That's exactly what my coworkers and I did today. Saw the crazy lines and just decided to go to Charcut for lunch instead.
The big advantage of getting food from a truck is that speed of service should be almost instant. I'm sure after the initial fad of having food trucks in Calgary dies down, that will become the norm.
