The problem here is that Tressel was caught numerous times lying to the NCAA and his AD and school President went along with it. If that's not loss of institutional control I don't know what is.
I told you something was going to happen, I know more is coming too. I know a Cop in Columbus that has a dirty on them.
We will see if Urban actually quit to be with his family or if he just couldn't handle being at Florida anymore. He has only built up programs and never stayed too long at a school. I have a feeling that he is going to be the new OSU coach in a year.

So Pryor comes to the team meeting where his coach quits because of you getting illegal benefits in this:

Tressell accused of rigging raffles for top prospects going all the way back to the mid 80's....that's likely criminal investigation time.
All this to be explained in todays new SI issue.....also including that the selling off of memorabilia has gone on for many years with institutional knowledge and at least 28 players involved.
Gonna be a long long road back for OSU on this one from the sounds of things.

The SI story is now up for reading.
Quote:
was confirmed to SI by a former colleague of Tressel's from Earle Bruce's staff at Ohio State in the mid-1980s. One of Tressel's duties then was to organize and run the Buckeyes' summer camp. Most of the young players who attended it would never play college football, but a few were top prospects whom Ohio State was recruiting. At the end of camp, attendees bought tickets to a raffle with prizes such as cleats and a jersey. According to his fellow assistant, Tressel rigged the raffle so that the elite prospects won
|
Quote:
Says the former colleague, who asked not to be identified because he still has ties to the Ohio State community, "In the morning he would read the Bible with another coach. Then, in the afternoon, he would go out and cheat kids who had probably saved up money from mowing lawns to buy those raffle tickets. That's Jim Tressel."

The only thing that bothers me about this whole situation is the whole 'holier than thou' attitude with which Tressel and OSU have carried themselves over the years. I'm not really upset by cheating in college football, mostly because it's become so common place I wouldn't be able to enjoy the sport if that aspect bothered me, but to have OSU not only act like they were above that, but to then act like they were above even having to face consequences for it is absolutely ridiculous. With the manner in which the AD and president handled this, and the length of time it appears these violations have been going on for, OSU deserves to be slammed with massive program crippling sanctions.

Couldn't agree more.
It's obvious using any semblance of common sense that the problems within the OSU administration allowed systematic coverups to continue for at least 10 years and probably more like 4 decades. For that reason alone they should get at least a 5 year bowl ban and a severe reduction in scholarships alomg with forfeiture of any wins since 2003.
Wont happen of course but that would be analogous in regards to the sanctions imposed on USC for ONE player being found in violation.

Sad part is that Tressel was doing crap like this a Youngstown State and was dirty then when he took the job at OSu.

This story just gets more comical every day.
Quote:
Said Lindsey Bohrer, a communications officer for the Ohio Department of Public Safety: "Our records do not indicate that (Pryor) has driving privileges in Ohio."
Pryor was photographed driving a used Nissan 350Z valued between $16,000 and $27,000 to and from the team meeting on Monday night. He drove the same car to a workout on Wednesday.
His driving suspension took effect on May 20 and runs through Aug. 18.

I'd be very surprised if Pryor plays another game for OSU. Even if the NCAA doesn't come down on him I think the program will, the guy is a complete idiot and a cancer. Pretty funny that he thinks he's above following any type of rules when he will likely never earn much of a living playing football. Beter get used to taking orders Terrelle, with the reputation you've earned yourself they'll likely be of the 'would you like fries with that' variety.

Pryor has announced he is foregoing his senior year at Ohio State. The heat is just starting on that program me thinks and it will be ugly when all is said and done.
As for Pryor...what now? he could supposedly get taken in the NFL supplemental draft (if thetre is one) but if not....can he sign where he wishes? or does he have to wait a year and enter after not playing for one more season.
not that I think he ever projected to anything but a small "maybe" at the pro level...but this kid has screwed himself royally it appears.

There will be a supplemental draft, the NFL has already said that, and I expect someone will take a flyer on him. He has all the tools to be an NFL QB, he just hasn't demonstrated any ability to use them properly.

Colt's wife insinuating players took improper benefits. Hopefully it's nothing to egregious or she doesn't know what she's talking about. I don't think Mack would have any knowledge of it, but who knows.

He is looking at possibly playing for the roughriders next year. Now I also heard that the university itself may be asking for a tv ban for a year or two. This is going to get nasty!

This is not a shot at him...not at all....it just is so obvious to me that this is systematic at each and every big time football school and no one is impervious IMO. The only team i believe that may not have much of this stuff going on is Notre Dame....and look at what they have become.
