Someone on ESPN had his preseason top 3:

Oklahoma (okay I can see this, they're a good team and will be good this year)
Bama (lost with this one, new QB, WR, and losing your Heisman winning rb..)
FSU WTH?!?!!? how in the hell are they ranked number 3? new qb and to them they said they were back after a 4 loss season!

Pre-season polls are pure comedy sometimes.

Texas was #4 last year IIRC....5-7 from there on

FSU is interesting as a top 3 though....the whole ACC stunk last year other than Va Tech and they certainly had their own hiccups at the beginning.

meh...same story every season...they're fun to look at and shouldn't matter but they do.

Ohio St. looking at some severe penalties now.....

In a "notice of allegations" given to Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee on Friday and obtained by The Dispatch, the NCAA accused Tressel of dishonesty for hiding violations by seven current and former players who sold awards and equipment to a tattoo-parlor owner.

Ohio State, however, was not cited for "failure to monitor" or "failure of institutional control" violations, which would likely lead to the harshest of penalties. Such penalties are typically imposed when a university's compliance program is weak.

"That was very significant," a source close to the investigation told The Dispatch today.

The NCAA warned that it could treat Ohio State as a repeat offender stemming from the violations involving former quarterback Troy Smith, who took $500 from a booster and former men's basketball coach Jim O'Brien, who gave $6,000 to a recruit.

That finding is the most damning and potentially most damaging because repeat offenders face post-season bans, the entire coaching staff could be suspended and the school could lose scholarships, according to NCAA rules.

What's funny about the whole thing is that Boise State gets a letter of allegations of items like a Candy bar but Ohio State Tattoos and cars are okay? The NCAA has no balls and wont touch OSU because they're the only thing the big10(12) has right now. OSU's Athletic Director opened his mouth about Auburn and how they got away with murder yet his coach got caught lying to the NCAA how many times in the last few months? Bruce Pearl got wacked so should sweater Vest.

This is horrible , I wonder what it was? Had his share of injuries but this guy was a top notch ball player. He was a hell of a baseball player who could have played pro baseball player but chose to go the football route instead.

Sounds like it was an OD of some kind of drug. So sad and what a waste.

According to the police report, El Reno police officer Todd Ward said that upon arriving at the house, he made contact with John Cobble III, who had identified himself to an emergency dispatcher as J.T. Cobble, who is the son of Tom Cobble, who was Box's high school football coach in Enid.

Ward said in the report Cobble III was performing CPR on Box and that "Cobble told me when I entered the room Box was in he believed he had overdosed." On the police report, under the offense category "controlled dangerous substance" is listed, and Ward checked the "drugs" box under a category listing possible/probable motivation.

"There's a guy who stayed with me last night and he's not responding to me," Cobble said when asked what was happening. "He takes pain pills and he's not responding to me."

Asked whether Box was breathing, he said, "I don't think so."
