I've been trying to explain this to people for a while now. People need to realize that the UCP is not the Conservatives we're used too, they are not the party to vote for if you're an old school conservative. The Wild Rose have taken over that party, and the Take Back Alberta wackjobs are influencing them more and more every day.

At least Don Braid got it right.

It no longer matters so much whether Premier Danielle Smith directly tried to influence Crown prosecutors over COVID protest charges.

What on earth is the premier of Alberta doing engaging in a long conversation with a man facing serious charges, during which the accused pressures her to get his charges dropped?

At any given moment, hundreds of Albertans are under prosecution. I guarantee you that a great number are absolutely convinced it isn’t fair.
They should all be allowed to call the premier and get her promise to “check on that.”

It's even worse when you consider that Danielle Smith donated a sizeable chunk of a gofundme campaign to the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom (John Carpay's group) who are acting as lawyers for Pawlowski et al.

Danielle also said this herself in the video, paraphrased of course.
"That's how the prime minister got himself in such hot water, because he was in a position where he asked the same questions that I did,"
She knows exactly what was happening

You assume they're actually going to participate in this thread and not complain elsewhere that defending the UCP is too hard because everyone is too mean about their inept, corrupt and immoral party.

I believe the term they use is “circle jerk” because for some reason they’re more obsessed with the idea of a group of guys jerking each other off than guys who actually enjoy jerking each other off.

If it was GoFundMe money, I would assume Private, but they could have just used the campaign to launder Public funds because y'know, UCP

Well I guess what I mean is if Danielle personally donates a whack of money, that’s different than if she put public money there. There are plenty of things to throw at her, but what she does with her personal money isn’t high on that list for me.

It was money she raised for, well, I'm not really clear? The right to get the J&J vaccine, and have doctors give medications? If you look at the July 14 update(scroll down), she explains what ultimately happened.
https://www.gofundme.com/f/right-to-...ents-for-covid
I think the point here is it was raised for one thing that was pretty non-specific, then donated to another. I guess no one who donated was too upset, since they all have the same goals of stupidity. But this was just another case of Smith thinking she was being clever and knew how things worked, only to find out she didn't have a ####ing clue, and had to bail on the "plan". Solid Premier material.

The two are not related.
There should be an inquiry into Smiths actions. Depending on what they find, she should be turfed. There is no room for corruption or interference of any kind with the courts by any level of government - federal, provincial, municipal.
Yes, there should have been action with the many federal scandals, that does not excuse Smith in any way.
If we are able to turf a few politicians for corruption it will send a strong message to the rest of them.
