I would be upset to lose him, obviously keeping JG and MT is best for this team right now.

Everyone agrees that Panarin was overpaid when he signed. I suspect most GM still think he is.
Is Draisaitl 75% as good as Gaudreau?

His ppg is only 87% of Panarin's over the last 4 years.
And an initial offer is initial for a reason...

He's probably trying to get here to sign in person, have a press conference etc., and his flight is delayed....

Based on what's happening in this thread, work seems pretty appealing right about now.

Pearson owes us a draft pick.

Guess it's almost time to blow it all up and go for the Connor Bedard sweepstakes?

You need to grow up if you’re gonna boo Johnny when he comes back to the Dome if he leaves. This isn’t a Tavares where he lied the whole time by saying he wanted to stay. This isn’t a Tom Erixon or Adam Fox who demanded to be traded before they even played a game for the franchise

I’d prefer if we got worked up into a frothy lather about Tkachuk possibly asking out if Johnny does leave. Now that’s the kind of hysterical theoretical I can really get behind

It'd be hilarious if Calgary took JVR and a first, but then JG decided to stay and JVR got put on LTIR. And then Calgary wins the lottery.

It’d be the first they got from Florida in the Giroux trade

That's a bit of an understatement
Between ages 24-28: Gaudreau has a slightly higher PPG than Panarin (1.09 vs 1.06), Panarin has a slightly better AST voting record, and they have a similar number of points over the timeframe.
Their overall supporting cast is pretty similar in terms of talent. Panarin was playing with Kane, Anisimov, PLD, Atkinson, and Strome. Johnny was playing with healthy Tkachuk, Lindholm, pre-concussion Ferland, and healthy Monahan.
Panarin looks a little better on the eye test, but Johnny is definitely on the same level.

Guys....guys...
I own 3 Named Jerseys.
My wife got me Robyn Regehr for Christmas. He was traded 2 months later.
Jaromir Jagr...he subsequently left the NHL.
And this year got a Gaudreau jersey.
Going for the Trifecta.
Its over guys.

I think family is very important but as an older adult (with kids in university) I see leaving to be closer to family a bit short sighted. There will be plenty of time for raising a child (a 7/8 year old in this case and their potential younger siblings) near grandparents after his hockey career. It is probably a perspective of age, but in hindsight, look at the long game. Besides, there are 4 months of the year in the offseason where the potential exists to raise your children with/near their grandparents.
