Ok we won and thats what matters so I can take off my Calgary Flames blinders and look at the game.

I still don't get why in the bloody hell Iginla gets stapled to the bench. He is the best right winger on the team. Its not like he was stinking it up out there. Getzlaf was average at best, Staal did ef all, Perry was average, Bergeron won some faceoffs....

woop de frickin do

Score a hat trick get 4 mins of ice time.

Its not like He is some young guy who is maybe in over his head.

IT s Jarome freakin Iginla. He has won at all levels and he has shown that when the team needs him he is there.

But no we stick with Rick Nash who has done nothing.

Good lord

Ok I need to go to bed, I'll see if sleeping on it has changed my perspective.

Did you watch the game at a different space-time continuum?

As well, if there is any question at ALL that Iginla might be hurt, then get him the hell off of the bench and not on the physical 4th line.

And if you're going to bench Doughty for playing poorly, why not Pronger for taking a stupid penalty, which leads to the tying Swiss goal in the delay. Why not Neidermayer for his poor overall play?

Baffling.
Benching Doughty for a single mistake that was arguably not his fault was bush league especially after how well he played in the first game. Meanwhile Pronger was doing his usual pylon impersonation he saves for international competition and Neidermayer looking painfully old out there.

Now you really are just trolling.

Got anything to add to the conversation or just your INCORRECT one line zingers?

I had no problems with how Babcock coached this game. No one really looked great early on but the San Jose line. To me, Iginla didn't look great. Neither did Nash.

Babcock is one of the best coaches in the NHL. I'm still very happy he's the one behind the bench of this team.
Iginla aside, I think he is mishandeling his bench. Bergeron should not be anywhere near the first line and guys like Morrow and Richards should get more than 1 shift in the third period. Canada is strong because of it's depth, but when your coach benches half your team in the final period, you lose that depth.

Fixed.

Honestly, I said it after the first game and I said it here: Neidermeyer and Boyle look terrible (Boyle less so, but still not that great).

Thank god Marty and Crosby were there to bail us out tonight. The Swiss were just flat out outworking Canada, and it showed from their lack of ability in the shootout (Where all of Canada's were close, the Swiss didn't do much).

You're right, one mistake by Doughty, I fixed my post.

I really hope Team Canada simplifies things from here on out. Sure the skillset on the team is amazing, but this was the kind of game that needed to be won by the grinders and crashers.

Lowe should never ever be involved in Hockey Canada again. Seabrook over Bouwmeester is stupid. + Perry, Bergeron. Come on.

Canada has to be the biggest team in the tournament by quite a bit....use their damn size and shoot the puck and get some dirty goals!! Holmstrom style make it happen!!

I find reading this thread quite amusing - this is what it must feel like for other teams' fans reading Flames game threads. So much bias and emotional involvement. I don't think Canada was nearly as bad as you guys think. I think the Swiss played really well, and... crap happens.

Your point? What has Nash done in the playoffs? He hasn't even been out of the first round, or in a SCF, or in a Olympic Gold Medal game and he kept getting ice time.

Why?

I never said that the Swiss weren't working hard.

I said that they weren't taming the Canadians and they weren't.

They worked hard and were badly outplayed and lost as they deserved to based on their play.

Feel free to make up an imaginary argument if it makes you feel better.
