If there is only one guy you keep it is Hanifin but at $7.5M I still think he is better used as a trade asset.

Didn’t they put trades on hold a week or so ago, mainly due to the offers not being satisfactory?
I don’t think the last week changed that.

Walking one ufa to free agency is probable
It would also not be a disaster
Walking most or all of them to free agency would be

This is what Francis said in his latest piece
Fighting their way back into the race means all decisions on UFA signings or trades of players like Elias Lindholm, Noah Hanifin, Nikita Zadorov and Chris Tanev are almost certainly on hold until at least the midway mark of the season.

So the Flames decide and change the future direction of the franchise every two weeks ! I for one am shocked that they haven’t been more successful over the past 30 years.

Yeah, that's not what on hold means.
But let's jump straight to outrage anyway

You have a weird definition of outrage .
And they have gone from trying to sign UFAs , to trade UFAs to hold and see in the first 20 games
Bad franchises stay bad for a reason !

If other teams are attempting to discuss trades for the pending UFAs, these discussions should absolutely not be on hold.

They also shouldn't tell the media their every move
Flames are better off having teams think they don't want to sell

Wills said on Flames talk today that Francis reported the Flames put trade talks on hold and Pat seemed surprised by the news.
I assume it is Francis saying his opinion like it is fact but he doesn’t know. It is my most disliked thing about Francis where he makes these statements about the Flames like he knows what he is talking about and completely misses the mark. Andersson captain, Hartley fired for Boudreau are just 2 that quickly pop to my mind.

Well, FWIW I know for sure the reporting was that they were not engaging in talks for a while (the team was struggling at the time). The sense was the bids were bad.

There isn't a rush from the Flames perspective, but there may be more urgency for a contending team looking to add.
The sooner the deal gets done, it allows for more time for the incoming player to get used to the team, systems, rink, city, etc.

It isn't that there is a rush, but I would hate to wait for the ultimate deal that you think is coming and then other teams go elsewhere and then you are left without a dance partner or settling for less.

Francis eh.
So in other words, they'll all be dealt next week.

Trades weren't likely to happen yet anyways...easier to Fit in players closer to the deadline.
Leafs and Canucks were maybe the only ones that you could have caught in desperation due to their injuries to dmen...but they've been able to stay afloat so far.

Do you see another Elias Lindholm available somewhere?

He's been wrong about just about everything Flames over the last couple years.
Signings/non signings, and most recently the captaincy ("expect Andersson to be named")
The funny part is he's had a coin flip's chance of being right on most things, and still gets it wrong.

I could also see Buffalo, maybe Pittsburgh doing something. Teams that are in a playoffs now or bust type position.
CBJ as well; though they're way too terrible to fix quickly.
And Edmonton of course for a goalie.
