They say you are never in trouble until you lose at home... oh wait, never mind.
Skinner and McDavid weren't good. That was the story of game 1. Skinner has to stop at least two of those goals, in my view. Everything went right to start the game with those two goals. I wonder if playing as the favourites is getting into Edmonton's head. Will be interesting to see how they respond.
Edmonton has to out score their defensive issues and their goaltender has to be even with the other guy. That didn't seem to me to be the case last night.
Game management is absolutely a thing with NHL officiating and it's one of the worst things about the NHL.
It’s definitely a possibility the refs favour the Oil to “balance things out.” But I think it’s also possible the refs don’t take kindly to Desharnais throwing a fit over a totally correct call. And to add to that, Woodcroft implying they got it wrong in his post game presser, they may not be inclined to call things the Oilers way.

I really hope so, I hope they got sick of the Oilers' antics the same way as they got sick of the Canucks antics.
This is a pretty ####ing ignorant comment. This is fantastic for casual watchers of the game, particularly when they might not be super familiar with all the players. I personally liked having the names up for the puck carrier during the PP.
My kids like it as well and anything I can do to increase their interest and understanding of the game is great.
Meh. Grew up watching hockey without all the stupid streak lines, names, stats all over the screen etc. Still managed to figure the game out.
Whiz-bang imagery does little for me and for most others' enjoyment of the game. YMMV.

Edmonton was the better team at 5v5 last night - especially in the first 40 minutes. But I'm not sure if that was Edmonton being good, or LA playing a bit too passive out the gate and giving the Oilers too much respect.
I think this win gives the Kings a lot of confidence - and depending on when they get Vilardi and Fiala back that gives them a bit more fire power too.
They need to get to Skinner early as he wasn't great last night and if he loses his confidence they may turn to Campbell out of desperation and then the Oilers are in big trouble.

Calling American fans dumb is a “pretty ####ing ignorant comment”?
Wow it’s amazing what offends people these days.
Can’t even call Friedman’s bald spot brutal without upsetting a bunch of folks.
To be clear I didn’t say either of these things.
I was banned however for a night for teeing off on Kadri. Which was justified in my opinion. The teeing off that is.

I personally want them to bring back glow puck lol
I actually wouldn't hate if they did something like that again to be honest. I know hockey purists hated it but I was pretty indifferent to it. The technology back then was pretty bad though. Is it that different than NFL putting first down lines on the screen?

NHL needs to figure a way to bring the broadcasts to the consumer. With technology people can setup their own overlays, stats, puck follower magigy's or put the game into 4:3, black and white and add in some static for that old time feel.
Other old time feels are area blackouts, limiting connections, not letting me watch whatever game is on.
We're really beyond a single presentation of a hockey game. The only reason I have Telus cable is for hockey, but the broadcasts this year were not great. So I'll be calling in after the oilers lose to cancel.
Love seeing Greasers fans getting dragged on the socials today even in America for their conduct at the end of the game last night. I can't believe some Flames fans actually want to hitch their wagon to those troglodytes.

I think Bally broadcasts were using a version of it for PPs and OT often this year:
I think if you turn it on only for pucks not under control it's nice, but doesn't seem necessary for anything other than shots/deflections, maybe slap passes. Would become an eyesore quickly if it's trailing any time it's in motion period.
If they want a meaningful puck trail I'd just have it mimic that of the EA game.

Nurse definitely sucks, but I think he's in ok positioning to take away the cross-crease pass to Kempe. Ceci is in no-man's land, allowing for that pass to Iafallo.
There are 3 Oilers closer to Iafallo than Nurse is and they all allow the pass to happen.
