The fact that roughly 10% of the league has covid indicates to me that they should be getting tested. If 10% of the Canadian population had covid we would have 3 million cases right now.

But we have no idea how many cases we have out in the general population. How many NHL cases would have been caught if they were relying strictly on symptomatic testing? I suspect (and I’m not in the medical field at all) that we would have a sh*t-ton of identified cases if the general population was tested even every three days.

My question is this: is there even a single NHLer that is sick? Everyone I’ve read is a asymptomatic.

Didn't Dr. Auld say 3-6 of the Flames had mild/moderate symptoms?

As predicted, the NFL will no longer test asymptomatic players.
Quote:
Starting Sunday, only unvaccinated players and anyone experiencing potential symptoms of COVID-19 would undergo testing, according to a memo sent to teams and obtained by The Athletic. Asymptomatic players would be subject to random spot testing for the duration of the season. Unvaccinated players will still be tested daily.
|
They already changed the rules to get out of covid protocol and play:
Quote:
First came a move earlier this week to allow asymptomatic vaccinated players to test out of COVID-19 protocols more quickly, if they can post two negative tests on the same day, or one negative test and an antibody test shows the individual has reached a certain level.

With NFL playoffs approaching, zero chance they will hold asymptomatic stars out of the lineup for playoff games.

How about we wait until we have more evidence before making those claims. It is a possibility but it is important to remember that there is a lag between infection, symptoms, and hospitalizations. Using a group of professional athletes as a representation of society isn't going to end well.

^^ and zero chance anyone asks to be tested if they have the sniffles or a bit of a cough.

It is to protect the players , not everyone else
Otherwise, they would have tested every fan on the stand.
Or better yet, have no fans. COVID is rampant still

Netherlands entering a hard lockdown tomorrow, UK after Christmas, weighed against top athletes with unlimited testing and early treatment being mostly fine. Yeah don't fall for the panic guys, it's all a ruse. Us lions aren't sheep, even though we mostly look like water buffalo.

It isn't the scientists who are advocating eternal panic and endless lockdowns. It's the politicians, and people like you who swallow whatever they say.
