It's not quite as disparate as that though. Two NCAA champions from the ECAC in last 10 years, compared to 3 from Hockey East.

Maybe more like SEC vs. another power 5 conference.

So.. can we add Coronato in April? That'd be great.

Coronato, killing a penalty, draws a penalty while setting up a shorthanded goal. On the ensuing PP, Coronato scored his first PP goal of the season

Scott Wheeler's take on Coronato:
Quote:
Coronato’s not going to be one-and-done at Harvard. He’s not that level of prospect and Harvard has a way of hanging onto their guys and making school a focus. (Something about being one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world or something…) But I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s two-and-done, which would position him for a 2023-24 NHL arrival. He’s helped by being a player who isn’t going to have to play immediately in the top six, like some top prospects need to as well. His game will fit a third-line role beautifully if that’s where they need him to start.

If it helps them win a Cup, absolutely.

Regenerating this discussion:

I was roundly slumped on for asking why we have never seen Coronato away from Farrell and if that was a problem? Lot of people saying Farrell was unlikely to be a difference maker anywhere.

Well, Farrell just made the US olympic team while Coronato did not.

It's more a question for the scouts to be honest.

At the time each was drafted scouts saw both guys that they thought Farrell was a 4th rounder and Coronato was a 1st rounder.

Not that scouts haven't been wrong in the past but there is something that makes people think Coronato will be a top end player.

Farrell has obviously taken huge steps since being drafted, but that also doesn't mean Coronato isn't going to be a good player.

Farrell is a year older and a year more polished at this point, is having a great first year in the NCAA, and because of that got the call for the olympic team.

Sure, I don't even really want to compare the players necessarily. But, it would be nice to know if one is helping the other look better, or if it's genuinely two good players playing together.
It is strange that both players have exploded in tandem, and have played together the whole time. If Coronato gets a few games with Havard sans Farrell and keeps producing well I will be silenced. I just want a feel for it.

They only took two 2021 draftees at forward, didn't they?

Yeah, so they didn't take Lucius, Hughes, or Samoskevich, either. Only Beniers and Knies (who's very big and looks like he should've gone in the first round).

I assume it would have to do with Farrell having a history with USA national team much longer than Coronato.

Indeed, Coronato is more of a "late bloomer" whereas Farrell has a longer history in top programs.
