We should have just drafted Farrell:

2020 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #44 by FCHockey

2020 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #70 by TSN/Craig Button

2020 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #45 by McKeen's Hockey

2020 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #85 by TSN/McKenzie

2020 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #62 by NHL Central Scouting

Was also super high on all the NHLe models and yet he fell to #124 somehow. That USHL team is just a prospect factory at this point

I'm more impressed by Henry Thrun's stats (a defenseman with 9 points in 4 games) than Sean Farrell's stats (a forward with 9 points in 4 games).
They're born the same year. Thrun is 5 inches taller and has an extra year of NCAA experience.

Thrun was one year earlier but he also went lower in the draft than expected

I guess we'll have to see how Boltmann pans out. Poirier was an easy choice, and Chechelev could make the pick worth it. Boltmann is the one guy in that range which was considered questionable, although he does have 6 pts in 9 games so far this year after a markedly poor D+1

In the same way we "should of" taken Farrell in the 4th round, we took Kerins, who is currently 2nd in OHL scoring two rounds later. Nobody on this forum, let alone many scouts would of predicted how well those two players are playing this year.
Will be a something like 3-5years before we see how these types of players pan out.
In the mean time, lets just enjoy how well it seems our scouting staff has been doing the last few years.

8 points in 6 games played, so he's cooled off a bit but still great pace for his freshman year. I've been following the general updates in the NCAA prospects thread if that helps?

He seems a little more upbeat, and a little less awkward.

His hands form the foundation of his offensive profile. He wants to have the puck on his stick and isn’t afraid to court contact to make sure he’s the one driving the bus for his line. He’s decisive, manipulative, and dextrous as a handler. He’s got a good shot for someone who is constantly throwing pucks on net, his release is fast and he’s versatile in how he gets pucks off. -EliteProspects 2021 NHL Draft Guide
Right-shot RW. 8pts in his first 7 games in the NCAA.

Johnny put up 44pts in 44 games his rookie season for BC, so Coronato's definitely on track. I mean it's only 7 games in, but not everyone clips along at a ppg pace their first year in college. It would be pretty massive for us (and him) if he plays the whole season like this.

Of those 8 pts, only 1 was on the PP. I believe 3 pts were shorthanded

Gaudreau posted those numbers in Hockey East, which is a higher level NCAA League than where Coronato is playing. He is still doing awesome, though.

Whoops, I assumed Harvard was in the same conference as BC and BU.

I'm confused though... when you say, "...Hockey East, which is a higher level NCAA League..." both conferences are D-I. (Or do you just mean Hockey East has better overall talent than ECAC?)

Yes. That's what he means. It's like the SEC and the mountain West are both div1 college football but they aren't the same in terms of talent.

Poorly worded on my part, sorry.

Hockey East has a considerably higher NHLe, which stems from an overall higher calibre of players.

How recent is this? A lot's happened in American Hockey since Vollmann arrived at those numbers I think.

Some more recent NHLe models I've seen lump all div1 NCAA together as the same NHLe

Anyways, NHLe almost doesn't matter here. For Coronato to make the NHL, it's all about how he plays without the puck in all three zones, and how his footspeed develops. The offensive stuff is almost a given.

Well Harvard does play in the Beanpot tournament with those schools so maybe you're thinking of that.

Yale, Union, Quinnipac have all produced great teams out of the Ivv conference. I don't really know how different the quality of hockey is between the two, but BC and BU are traditional powers for sure.
