Weird. Flames were totally in control until the tkachuk penalty. Need to get going again.

He is an average GM with a below average Coach getting average results out of a slightly above average team.

i have no issues with the way the youngester goalies have played. The problem is that they're not playing vezina caliber, which is seemingly what the flames need to win games.

You mean when in his first year management decided to gut the team Trading Iggy, Tangs, and Marshmellow for terrible returns and start the rebuild. Your statement doesn't reflect the whole story. Not the best situation for Hartley to deal with.
Can you imagine what Gilly would do with No Monahan, Johnny, Hamilton.

You don't need to watch it, you know.
Hartley had a few guys. Peak Hudler, better Brodie, Iggie when he still had some steam. Glencross was still scoring. Wideman was not an anchor.
You do also realize that Hartley's teams had comebacks because they were behind a lot? And that they lost a ton of those games?
What I know is that Hartley is in Latvia. He's so good that no one has offered him a job.

So the Calgary Flames are about to have another coach who wont find a head coaching job after they leave the organization.

I don't think it's as black and white as some people are making out. You can't put it all on GG and likewise an elite coach likely does get more out of this team.
Average coach, fragile and average player group. We're a .500 team that deserves its record.
Alarmingly our GM appears to have assessed both situations differently last summer.

Tkachuk has to give his head a shake after this game. He took a very stupid penalty that lead to a major momentum shift.

Flames have lost every puck battle tonight. Defensive zone coverage complete garbage. As bad as I've seen for a good while.

They have to stay out of the penalty box in the 3rd period.

Hopefully they can just compete in the third because they stopped competing for most of the second. Top to bottom.

And again he is not wrong. I've thought the same thing. I truthfully think flames need to make some major trades in forward group and backend ,along with a new coach. It's not just GG

This club looks like a team that has no confidence in their goaltending.
Understandable....but unfortunate.

Rittich has had some struggles lately...likely under .900 save percentage after this game. No team wins consistently with that.

Sort of! Check out the Flamesnation article about GG and his time in Dallas. Basically a carbon copy of what is happening here in his 2nd year.

I fully recognize this. I just think he wasn't a good coach and his comebacks are overstated. He didn't have the talent, true. What's also true is that he has some of the worst records in Flames history. And he had better talent than some of those teams for sure.

I think GG is like mom to the players. My mom tells always something but I rarely pay attention. I know she is telling me right things, but ...

I’m starting to feel like frankly I should just stop, pretend hockey doesn’t exist and only come back once GG is fired. If that means writing of the season, oh well.
If by some ineffable confluence of stupidity the season is a write off AND GG is brought back... man, I may just finally be done.

Frankly, I'm beginning to see how the issues with this team go deeper than the coach. GG absolutely needs to go, but so do a lot of other people.
Way, waaaaaay too much acceptance of being "just OK" in this organization. A total house cleaning is the only way this mess gets fixed.
