Oh wait...
Your articles are a bit out of chronological order. Haha.

As for the bolded statement, do you have something to back that up? I currently sit on a committee specifically designed for promoting and bringing in healthcare workers to our region. And feedback to the committee directly states the condition of our hospital as a stumbling block for attraction.

No one considers the UCPs hostility to healthcare workers (specifically nurses and their union) and doctors as playing a part?

even if true, it certainly seems stunning if the UCP gets even a partial pass or 'less bad option' here

just a reminder of this good news, what ended up being 3 weeks before a global pandemic

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...ment-1.5470352

The Alberta government, fresh off failed contract talks with doctors, is ending its long-standing master agreement with them and putting new rules in place April 1.
Changes include new fee rules on extended patient visits that doctors have already said will devastate the bottom line for some family and rural practices.

I googled "Alberta NDP cut funding to rural healthcare" and picked a few articles at random...unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything substantiate NDP hindering rural healthcare, but I'm keen to hear the evidence.

As for rural infrastructure, I have a long/thoughtful response for you, it's just gonna be a couple hours before I can give it

I think you miss understood me. I don't think that the UCP is the less bad option here.

Yeah, I would have to dig through the budgets, but it is looking like I was misinformed or misunderstanding of timelines!

I can fess up to the mistake. I could keep trying to validate the statement, but I don't think I can.

Ask Ozy_Flame or AFireInside about this, they will tell you the real situation on the ground. Spoiler alert: it does play a part, the UCP is such a ####ing terrible party.

This is the same Rebecca Schulz who in her time as Minister of children’s services complained when the federal government was giving our province money to reduce the costs of child care?

The same Rebecca Schulz who couldn’t follow her parties own COVID restrictions?

The same Rebecca Schulz who’s campaign team dumps boxes full of pamphlets on the doorsteps of constituents who say they’re not going to vote for her?

Seems as though your judgement may be a little skewed on this as I have little hope that she will make a positive contribution going forward in any role she takes in government, but hey let’s reward her with another term to make sure she qualifies for her pension.

If you're on a provincial committee, thank you for coming in here to post. As humble as this forum is, it reaches a lot of interested Albertans. Be aware that you are fighting an uphill battle working with this particular government. And by that I mean that the UCP is basically the same under Smith as Kenney, and they have to wear that.

You're going to hit resistance in this forum, but the access to information is worth it, so try not to take it personally.

I desperately want to hear from someone associated to government on education issues (in a more informal setting like this one), but I'm pretty sure those folks can't read.

Where to start . . . Hospital conditions, adjustment of billing codes, lack of ICU beds, overworked nurses, inept administrative layers, lack of respect for mental health resources, contract termination on a whim, pushing people to ARPs, family clinic overhead billing costs, possibly forcing physicians to work in rural areas against their will . . .

Then you have a premier that says smoking is good for you and cancer patients could have helped themselves. People notice these things and political leadership is a tremendous risk, especially as they take oaths to help the public yet the province is marching towards private systems of care.

I can tell you in no uncertain terms there is apprehension from healthcare workers in other provinces to work under that gong show.

I think the great part of this conversation we're having right now is that it challenged something that I've been misinformed on or misunderstood.

And once I tried to support what my statement I realized I had it wrong.

I'm not going to get upset at anybody calling me out because that's kind of the point of the conversation.

I think I've maintained since the start of the conversation that I'm very open to changing my mind with new information.

Edit: just for a little background on myself so you guys can understand where I'm coming from. I'm in my second year of my 4-year municipal term. I have never nor was I that interested in politics before I ran. I saw some issues occurring at a municipal level that I felt that my experience could help solve. But I have no political experience or training so I'm learning on the fly as I go. Everyday I learn something new that helps me for my opinions and decisions. And I do learn a lot from the information that I gather reading these various threads. Even though typically they are very Urban centric in there topics and discussions.

If you're in Municipal politics, what is your opinion on the UCP downloading costs to municipalities in the last four years, particularly on smaller towns and communities that can't afford the extra burden? For example the ongoing ambulance availability crisis? What is it about their governing style that gives you hope?

And I'm curious why you think Rebecca Schulz has been great?

I will answer this and the other questions after weekend or if I get some free time this weekend!

Off to play in a charity hockey tournie!

Edit: Just a reminder, NOT a fan of the UCP as a whole. I am currently PLANNING on voting for the UCP MLA in my region because I think he has and is trying to do some things to help our region. NOT a UCP supporter...

I know that doesnt make sense to a lot of you....

You know what, good for you for stating your opinion and your thoughts on your local MLA. Way way too many people get caught up or in party politics and don't vote for their actual interests in their ridings for political representation that is good for their area.

I am a Conservative and federally speaking, the MP's from my riding have bene absolutely nothing but actual useless losers to the point of no return. My area has had piss poor representation for a long time. I vote against the party of my choice all the time to send a message.

As for your current MLA, if you are happy with them and that they worked hard to get some funding for your local hospital, great! I don't recall where in AB you live but there are plenty of smaller town and cities that have been completely pissed on in regards to healthcare infrastructure, mostly by the conservatives I must add but by the NDP and their previous government and no meaningful plan for those communities and quickly.

Best of luck to you and your community because healthcare needs and requirements play a big role in our overall lives

How about a committee to review and evaluate how to keep the current health care staff that you have right now?!
You can bring as much as many people you want but if you don’t treat your current right what’s the point?
Maybe your committee should start talking to those who have their boots on the ground and ask them what can be done to improve the situation in our primary care settings?
