Yeah, but Paris knows how to handle these things. In England they segregate the fans and will police escort away fans in and out. There are pubs that are specifically for away fans and that sort of thing to try to ensure that this kind of thing doesn’t happen. I think that WC organizers should be taking a long look at this and making preparations. Here we let Oilers and Flames fans mix and aside from Oilers fans fighting among themselves it’s fine. But this is an entirely different situation.

Another angle , just disgusting on all fronts to see this. They better have tons of security for the final in Miami. Could potentially be even worse than this without proper sectioning off areas. |
Look like Nunez finally connected on some shots. He's the Uraguayan Mike Milbury. Those Columbian fans are lucky they werent wearing cleats!

This has to be a wake up call for the 2026 World Cup. 48 teams you will get some wild ones.
This looked like community soccer games with people getting into fights and the ugly play.

FIFA runs the world cup and they will have months to prepare.
Things are always interesting with Uruguay. Football is their raison d'etre.

I look at it like you and I or anyone else won’t be able to change their behaviour with these situations. It’ll likely happen all the time. But the families and friends should be forewarned to not respond. You don’t respond nothing escalates. Respond and tempers flair.

Can't even order a Koné jersey from the official Canada Soccer store. Maybe they should update that. I want

I absolutely love soccer, but #### that behaviour at that Uruguay/Colombia game is embarrassing and a stain on the sport. It's just a goddamn children's game where you kick a round object on grass; people take it way too seriously sometimes.

For a lot of teams, especially South America and the poor countries this is life. When you grow up poor soccer is all you have, and it gets intense.

I have been in the thick of it before, its dumb and stupid but it gets heated and fights happen.

I have seen family members go at it over this game.

Just disqualify both teams, and have Canada play Argentina again in the final.

Help me understand here; are you low-key trying to justify this behaviour? You can 100% watch soccer without resorting to violence, regardless of your position in life. It's really easy to do.

I have to say, I understand segregating the fans, we had different areas of Paris to congregate but post-match? All of the fans mingle in the city in the bars and restaurants.

And I must say, the Real Madrid fans? They were nothing but classy. I never saw a fight or altercation. It was all "Match well played...want a beer?"

I was pretty impressed. And yeah. I'm old too. I'm not getting into a fight or anything over a soccer game.

Both Liverpool fans and Real Madrid fans alike bought me drinks when they heard I flew all the way from Canada to watch the match.

They absolutely do not.

Did you see that BS outside of the stadium for that Champions' League final? Pepper-spraying legitimate ticket-holders and bottle-necking stadium entrances? They had to convene a formal review!

No not trying to justify it, just saying it's normal for them. Especially when alcohol is involved.
