probably a sponsorship thing ... it is for team names, as Red Bull Salzburg have to call themselves "FC Salzburg" when they play in the CL or EL for example. Maybe similar rules apply for stadium names, but I've never heard that Bayern had to change it though ... who knows.

If you are in the Champions League you have to follow the champions league sponsorship guidelines. If another competitor has exclusive rights to the sponsorship in the Champions League a conflicting sponsor cannot be mentioned on a Champions League broadcast.
Its the same reason some teams have to have different sponsors for their kit in the Champions League since the sponsor has to be "Champions League Approved".

Ah, I knew that they did that with some sponsors, but I didnt think an airline would be a big deal.
Like when Liverpool played in France they had to take the 'Carlsberg' off their shirts.

some countries have a rule about gambling information not being able to be displayed
so teams in the past with bet 365 or others have had to play with blank shirts

Another classic bit from quote machine Gerrard
http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/173155.html
Since Liverpool ran United so close in 2009 the club's fortunes have taken a significant dip, having finished seventh, sixth and eighth. That, combined with the emergence of other clubs - with Manchester City's spending power winning them the championship last season - has made the Reds' task of regaining a top-four spot, never mind challenging for the title, even more difficult.
"It is no good us worrying about the power of Chelsea and Manchester City,'' said Gerrard, who believes the club is making positive strides since Brendan Rodgers took over in the summer. "But there is no two ways about it, if there was no Roman Abramovich (Chelsea owner) or the guy (Sheikh Mansour) who bought Manchester City I'd have two or three league titles sitting here now.
Poor old Stevey...always someone else's fault.

I'm not sure that this is unique to Steven Gerrard. A plurality of both managers and players employ this type of logic whenever a loss is incurred. It is rare to find someone in the top flight of English football with enough circumspection to not deflect blame on to others.

A loss here and there, okay. But two or three TITLES? I have a hard time believing that...especially considering Liverpool's finishing position in that time frame.

More from the EDP (local rag). Going to a tribunal for unfair dismissal????
Quote:
And City chairman Alan Bowkett, speaking at Thursday night’s supporters’ forum at Carrow Road, revealed to the 130 fans in attendance Lambert was seeking compensation from the club he walked out on five months ago – news greeted by stunned silence. “He walked out on us – Aston Villa said he was a free agent so they are not paying us compensation, which we take issue with,” said Bowkett.
“However, interestingly Paul Lambert is taking Norwich City to an industrial tribunal for unfair dismissal and breach of contract, and he wants £1.5m to £2m from us. So we look forward to those tribunals.”

This is a strange one. Here's what I've got.
Lambert offers resignation, Norwich reject it (I'm presuming to obtain some sort of compensation for Villa). Lambert signs for Villa regardless whilst technically under contract to Norwich but Villa maintain he was a free agent refusing compensation to Norwich. Norwich are fighting this lack of payment.
Meanwhile ...... Lambert seeks compensation for unfair dismissal?????

Fair enough. It just seems that the level of personal responsibility for one's own play or the fortunes of a particular club is always the result of external, not internal, factors. I grow weary of the shifting of blame/responsibility in the EPL.
The answer is the Football League.

It's been a difficult week for the Ferdinand boys:
Roy Hodgson apologises to Rio Ferdinand over Tube comments
Roy Hodgson has apologised to Rio Ferdinand after discussing the defender's England future with fellow London Underground passengers.
The England coach admitted saying the Manchester United centre-back, 34, would not be in his latest squad, a day before it was announced.

Between Cole, Rio, Terry and Roy playing for England must be a blast.
They seriously need:
Being: The Three Lions
"Watch behind the scenes as Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck try and figure out whose wife John Terry has slept wit this time while Ashley Cole busily sets a hotel room on fire because it called him a liar."
