Single handily? Really?

You are aware that football is a team game right?

Tebow didn't grab the Xbox controller and take over control of everyone else on the field.

Well the players on this Broncos team are sure approving this move.

Dumervil was talking about how deadly a no huddle Peyton Manning offense at mile high could be.

Thats fair, but he was the only player change that happened before they turned a losing season into a season with a playoff birth. Nothing changed besides him. I think the term "single handily" is correctly used describing the season Tebow had.

Von Miller got some experience. He changed.
Quinton Carter got some experience. He changed.
Demaryius Thomas got healthy.
Chris Harris got some experience and became a legitimate NFL nickel corner.

I get it man, you don't like Tebow. Its all good.

Just make sure you get your excuses ready when Tebow has another great season next year for a team that actually wants him

Vernon has no desire to actually have any intelligent debate here at all. It's getting painful

Brandon Stokely is close to signing with the Broncos and Saturday now has a visit planned.

Nope.

Are you forgetting that for 3/4 of the game Tebow wasn't getting anything done? The only thing he did right was not turn the ball over (in the games Broncos won) like Orton did. The defense was able to defend the opposing team in a game of field position, which allowed the team to bend but not break. Tebow finally got something done in the late stage of the game where he scored a touchdown or got deep enough into the opposing side of the field that Prater can get the clutch game winning field goal.

There was only two games the Tebow really was a big reason the team won. One game against the Vikings where the Denver D had a bad day, and the Steelers playoff game. There were many more games where his inablity to make throws or handle pocket pressure almost cost the Broncos, or actually did cost them the game; the Patriots games most notability.

Speaking of which, this has triggered a QB controversy for the 49ers. Public/media opinion of whether not Smith should be re-signed (if he is even willing) seems to be fairly split. A large contingent want Kaepernick to have a turn at the helm.

Refer to this post regarding my thoughts on Tebow not getting anything done 3/4 of the game...

If Tebow ends up on a team that forms around him rather than him forming around the team it could be an amazing thing.

For me this trade is great because of the huge pressure Elway has put on himself and the organization, and that Tebow may finally get his fair shot - far away from the Bronco train wreck

Raider reach an agreement with Shawntae Spencer. He lost his spot in the 49er secondary last year, but is a classy of a guy as they come. There were a lot of nice things said about him when he was released.

If his style of playing is running around to move the chains, then his next season his doomed. NFL D coordinators are gonna have none of that and FORCE him to pass in the pocket, where the Lions, the Bills, and the Patriots made him look bad. There's a reason Fox was very cautious in using Tebow.

Another great season?

Doesn't he have to have one great season first before you can say another?

Jets signed Landry to a 1 year/4M deal. I know NE was interested in him too.

I think Dallas Clark will sign in Denver as well.

The one thing about Smith that drove me insane last year was how terrible he was in the red zone. As soon as they got inside the 20 it was check downs and throw aways. I understand not wanting to turn the ball over and "get at least 3 points", but settling for 3 and relying on your defense it not a great strategy over the course of a game (even with that good of a D).

ESPN reporting that Alex Smith left Miami without a contract. Most people think he signs shortly with SF.

Manning, Flynn, Smith all say no thank you.

Tebow or Garrard..........the choice is yours (or they can stick with Matt Moore).

While definitely warranted, in past years Smith was money in the red zone. I think this season a large part was the inability for any WR to get open or even draw double coverage. As soon as they got there Walker and/or Davis were covered like a blanket; Morgan was decent but undersized; Crabtree never seems able to get any separation; and Edwards was either hurt or alligator armed. Smith just didn't trust the WR to either catch or knock down the ball.

So while I do think Smith should have tried to force a few more in there, with Akers as the safety blanket he didn't want to take 3 points off the board.

Miami could make this offseason even worse by signing Smith for that amount of money. Matt Moore is just as good if not a better Quarterback, to throe that amount of money around would be silly
