Because Gausman has been lights out…. Why wouldn’t you pitch to him?

Bases empty and you starter is cruising
Plus the mariners have a lot of power behind Cal that can also hit it out

Bases empty, two outs ... feels like a perfect opportunity to not give the best HR hitter in the game right now a chance to tie it with one swing

Gausman looked a little rattled by that, but I'd have spoken to him to catch his breath. He was doing fine before. I trust Schneider now, but Gausman had more in the tank, especially with two outs.

I would have let Gausman finish the inning here.

Yeah, it’s certainly an interesting and boneheaded choice.

Gausman missed one pitch.
And was cruising before that.
Ok a walk.
But I trust him to get one more out and probably 4 more outs at least given where they are in the order, given that, then going into the bullpen at this point.

Julio and Polanco are good but they weren't the ones who hit 60 dingers this year

After the wild pitch they should have put Polanco on

If you can’t trust your top starter to get out of a little jam after one bad pitch and being a bit shaken and then giving up a walk, doesn’t bode well. Schneider managing scared.

Dumb decisions and the jays are probably going to lose a game they desperately needed to win.
