How about Schmaltz & Chychrun for Kylington, Coronato and 1st.
I still believe Flames need to keep Valimaki.
And Arizona will get young D who is now in NHL, and 2 first rounders.

Is Valamaki on the farm or with the team right now?

Valimaki will be an NHL regular. Whether that's with us or on another team I guess depends on how we utilize him
(or don't).

But if we need a chip to push in for a solid scoring addition, he's probably that, as he likely holds value to a number of teams

I wouldn't hesitate to give up Valimaki in a trade for Chychrun-they are both the same age. I also don't mind giving up high draft picks, or prospects as long as young players are coming back-players like the aforementioned Keller, Kravtsov or Zadina. Gurianov's name has been thrown out in here too, and I would give the moon for him-he's going to be a star in a few years.

I'd move that package for Chychrun if the ask is truly a first and 2 former firsts.

Option 1 keep Hanafin and Move Zadorov (get your 3rd round pick back):
Chychrun Tanev
Hanafin Andersson
Kylington Gudbrannson

Option 2 move Hanafin (worth a first round pick likely)
Chychrun Tanev
Kylington Andersson
Zadorov Gudbrannson
No way I would move this guy right now.

I don’t move Coronato or Pelletier. When we resign Tkachuk and Gaudreau we are going to need cheap youth talent to play up the line up to offset the large contracts.

I agree, but you can see the difficulty Calgary has in making runs at very good deadline aquisitions. That's the types of returns they will require.

From the sounds of it the Flames were willing to make the multiple prospect move for Eichel but Friedman poured cold water on them making that move for anyone else.

I suspect if we see Pelletier, Coronato, Wolf, Zary in a deal the Flames are getting a long term piece.

Pieces I would have interest in moving some high end prospects for:

Konecny
Dvorak
Gourde
Laine
Debrincat
Chychrun

I am sure there are more but I want a longer term piece of the prime assets are going out the door. Where it gets really messy is trying to make the cap work after this season

Anyone else read the comments out of Philly this morning? I can’t think of a team that is heading in a worse direction. I’m paraphrasing but the gist of it is:

- Chuck Fletcher is the guy
- Don’t see themselves in need of a 3-5 year rebuild
- Looking to aggressively retool
- Going to give a blank cheque, wants to win right now
- Giroux’s decision if he’s traded at the deadline or not

Not sure how much a “blank cheque” is going to help things in a cap league given their situation. Projected to have about 12 million in space next season with only 11 players on their roster. Big money locked up in:

JVR
Atkinson
Konecny
Provorov
Farabee
Hayes
Ellis
Couturier

I actually worry this terrible season will make it more likely that Philly offers something ridiculous to Gaudreau if he hits UFA.

Couturier and Ellis done for the season. I wonder if they are more willing to move some of their older players as part of the aggressive retool.

I was talking to a hardcore Flyer fan on a podcast (unrelated to hockey) and he said the feeling within the Flyers community is Gaudreau will be a Flyer in the near future. Seems like there are comments from within the team (Flyers) to support that belief. I told him not to hold their breath, but he was adamant in their belief. Seems there is still smoke there.

My take is that it's Calgary or Philly for Johnny.

I think he stays here if the Flames actually meet his asking price, but if they don't then my guess is would go play closer to home with his best friend (Kevin Hayes).

No point in giving up assets in a go for it trade if you can’t resign Gaudreau. Because if you are losing Gaudreau and probably Tkachuk then it’s time to retool . In the meantime you’ve gutted your prospect pool and are even worse off.

Hard disagree. If you know you're going to lose Gaudreau, then I say you go for it while we have him. When are we going to have an offensive player this good ever again? Have we ever had one?

I have been feeling more confident than ever lately that we stand a chance of keeping John. We have to pay the man, no doubt, but I am hoping we don't chicken out on that.

But, if you know he's leaving, shouldn't we do everything we can to try and win while the window is open? It snaps shut when he leaves.

Any info on these comments from Flyers management? Where did the fans hear this?
