Schneider + chytil + a pick for Miller seems fair for both sides.

Should be a deal if it was offered since Scheidner has been the ask from the canucks allegedly.

Chytil is risky AF with his injuries.and a close to 5m cap hit and he's not been that good this year. Maybe he's a Kakko 2.0, who knows.

I will reiterate, sometimes the best deal is turned down. I think Vancouver fumbled this one.

Very similar to what the return was in the summer. Only major change was the pick but NJD wanted it protected anyways - so in a way it ended up the same. Calgary had an additional prospect coming their way but it was minor.

Mercer was the original ask but the overall negotiation was stressful and Connie had a good market with him retained once he got approved for up to 50% RET. (TOR, LA). Connie pumped the price (as he should) and nobody up'd their offer. LA came real close at one point but I don't have specifics.

Connie had good feels that NJD were going to come back in the summer, same package and it would be less retention.

Gamble paid off IMO.

Fitz is still a jackass as he leaked it in an attempt to sour the relationship which it did but Calgary didn't budge.

In the context of the fact that if you were just playing a video game and the in dressing room stuff didn’t matter then Vancouver isn’t trading Miller at all. They’d keep both guys. They’re going to “lose” the trade. Hes a decent piece on top of a good prospect.

I would not want Miller. It seems he has a terrible attitude and I wouldn't want that to rub off on any of the younger players.

I know it's crazy, but I wouldn't want him for free even. Do not want that entering the locker room.

Might be academic now that Buffalo has allegedly told calgary the fit isn't there with offers, but it occurs to me that the same people who are most opposed to offering hard for cozens are those that also didn't want us to acquire holloway or kakko. Both are absolutely exceeding out of their respective ####ty scenarios.

This is a bit different than what was shared with me originally, I was told initially that NYR tabled Miller and not Schneider which is the piece VAN really want.
Vancouver pivoted to Miller + Laf rather than Chytil and NYR backed out.
Still believe something gets done here.

I'm in team get Cozens but the price has to be right.

I do think he would get a boost getting away from Buffalo but i don't think he'll ever be a #1 driving center. He could be a 1b/#2 center.
The price would need to reflect that.

if it doesn't work out, not the end of the world. Other centers of his caliber will become available at some point, maybe even better options.
