With the amount of cap we have I think the flames will be actively looking at the trade market as well; we are an hour and 10 mins out from UFA even starting and it lasts all summer, lots of time for the chips to fall where they may.

As much as I miss signing players because its fun as a fan, I get slightly happier everytime I see these depth players being signed long-term but not to the Flames.

With the performance CC has done over two drafts, a ufa period, trade deadline etc. I have literally no concerns with what direction he takes here during the coming ufa period. Conny has a plan, clearly, and I’m loving watching it step by step, easily the most excited I’ve been about the direction of the Calgary Flames in a long long time.

Part of that appeal is not falling for panic signings that will be huge boat anchors later.

Brad hasn't built !@$% in the NHL as a GM.
Dude inherited the most important pieces of his Flames teams (Giordano, Monahan, Gaudreau), made a mess of plenty of other things, and lucked into Matthew Tkachuk thanks to incredible incompetence on behalf of Edmonton and Vancouver.
So yeah, I'm happy he's not here. Dude is summed up well with: "works hard, not smart"
