Sure but Kherson is where their good troops are. They lose them they lose any chance of winning this war on the ground. Anyway just going to hold my breath til we get more news. Obviously would be huge if true but I’ll just wait for now.

It will be good if the combat phase ends of course, but I doubt we are going to get back to normal any time soon unless the Putin regime falls and is replaced with something better.

If the conflict ends wouldn’t Ukraine then be able to join NATO?
If that’s the case my guess is Putin will continue low scale military operations just to keep the “active conflict” going.

Zelensky has personally stated that the war is not over until Russia leaves all of occupied Ukraine, including Crimea. Russian citizens have already been fleeing there en masse, I think if the Russian military is as close to full collapse as the reports are indicating then Ukraine will get Crimea back without having to fire a shot there

Step 1: retake Crimea
Step 2: immediately blow up Crimean bridge.

Kudos to Putin for one of the biggest screw-ups on a major leader in our lifetime (actually probably the biggest)

The only comparable I can think of is Hitler's decision to invade Russia. I wonder if Putin appreciates the irony

Azerbaijan is possibly capitalizing on Russian weakness, as they've just started attacking Armenia. They fought in 2020, mostly in Nagorno-Karabakh (disputed territory within Azerbaijan), but these attacks are on Armenia proper.

Not really weird when you think of it, If Ukraine wins it makes Biden look good, Fox doesn't like that idea.

Duma's speaker says that Kyiv actions will result in nuclear war.
Seems like Putin has realized he can't win a conventional war and now is contemplating nukes.

Meetings with military staff are useless at this point. Apparently it came down to nuking Kyiv or quitting. Him leaving Moscow also may be related to possible retaliation strike on Moscow.

Nuclear Sabre rattling was an inevitable outcome. Every time things take a bad turn he wants to remind everyone he's got nukes

Yeah, that kind of talk means nothing one way or the other.
Also, the Duma is full of nutcases who say a lot of crazy stuff.

another strange death under mysterious circumstances of a high-ranking official has taken place. This time the deceased is Ivan Pechorin, who was reported dead this Tuesday by his company.
Pechorin reportedly fell off a boat and drowned in the sea near close to Russky Island and Cape Ignatiev off the Pacific coast of Russia.
|
Quote:
Among other things, Pechorin was responsible for the development of projects in the Arctic. As an area rich in oil and gas, the Arctic is seen as an important part of Putin’s strategy to find a way around the economic sanctions that#Moscow#has been hit by. Another of his roles was in developing the air industry in eastern Russia, a sector which has of course been badly affected by the sanctions
