If it's the indoctrination theory, we'll have to beat you with a sock full of bars of soap.

I mostly play a Turian sentinel with no tech shield and everything else maxed. It's not the class you'd take if you want the most kills on most rounds but it's a really solid basic contributor with overload and warp on short cooldowns. Good with the big enemies. Clumsy though.

Silver is exciting enough and usually works out, but my problem is that I can only play a couple of rounds before I get bored. Can't get enough game time to really upgrade my weapons or get good at it. I love the Raptor rifle but I wonder if it doesn't start to feel slightly underpowered on silver level.

I wonder about the new classes. Was it really necessary to give a Krogan tank the biotic charge? Haven't played much since the update, but I've seen some crazy point spreads lately. Like you have one guy with more points than everyone else combined on silver level.

Knowing your teammates and communication are the things that make gold enjoyable, I'd imagine. The team matters the most, way more than weapons and having the right characters and so on. You can fail bronze when you have players running around chasing kills and then before long everyone's chasing their dying bodies all over the map and getting killed themselves.

Rarely get really good cohesion in a public game but when it happens, silver level is actually easy. So I can imagine that if you have a proper group together, gold quickly becomes the only way to get exciting games.

I did get the new Batari Harpoon. I don't know if it's glitched or if there was lag but I could barely hit anything compared to the Widow. It felt completely off somehow. I couldn't even always tell if I had hit the enemy or not. Seemed bugged.

Also I have to wonder how much the internet is fueling rage.
We're not. I've read many people express similar feelings to mine and I've talked about it in meat space. But enough about that.

Sorry for the bump, but I finished Mass Effect 3 last night and figured I would share my thoughts on it. It finally ends the last 5 months of my gaming being dominated by the Mass Effect trilogy. It was nice to be able to play all three in a row (keep in mind I didn't really know ANYTHING about it when I first jumped into ME1 in January), as I was totally immersed in the story that way. I'm not terribly happy with the ending (if they're gonna do it this way, at least add some exposition after those cinematics!), but the rest of ME3 is so great that it won't stop me from loving the game. I'm actually pretty sad I reached the end. I really got attached to the characters.

My favorite stuff from the series (ME3 spoiler tagged in case some people here are still playing):

Mass Effect
1. First time landing at the Citadel - The sense of "wow" when you first get there and start to immerse yourself in the universe they created was awesome.
2. Meeting the Prothean VI on Ilos - The big moment of meeting something Prothean as well as learning the secret of the Citadel, Mass Relays and the Conduit was my favorite thing from this game.
3. The battle for the Citadel - The climax of the game was well done, and the pacing and scale was great all the way from the race to the conduit to fighting Saren. Sovereign still feels like one of the most menacing reapers to me. In general, the reapers felt less and less "goliath" like as things went on.

Mass Effect 2
1. Attack and destruction of the Normandy SR1 - One of the best scenes in the trilogy, period. An awesome way to open the game and make you go "whoa".
2. Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC - If all DLC was like this, then I would never complain. It felt head and shoulders above most everything in Mass Effect 2 in terms of quality of production. The hovercar chase through Illium and the exterior of the Shadow Broker ship were incredible looking, and the script writing was very well done. The banter between Shepard and Liara is hilarious.
3. The assault of the Collector Base - All that work you did actually showed up here. The approach was much better than the actual base, and the proto-human reaper was creepy as ####. Very good final boss.

Mass Effect 3
Spoiler!

If anyone cares, the Extended Cut will be released on Tuesday.

What save game should I load to play the Extended Cut?

  • [SPOILERS] To experience the Extended Cut, load a save game from before the attack on the Cerberus Base and play through to the end of the game. The Extended Cut endings will differ depending on choices made throughout the Mass Effect series, so multiple playthroughs with a variety of different decisions will be required to experience the variety of possibilities offered by the new content.
i initially wasn't that exited about this DLC pack as i figured it would just be some quick dialogs and cut-scenes that you had no control over. having it reference past decisions from all 3 games though may make it worthwhile

Has there ever been a definitive word that the Extended Cut will take into consideration decisions and actions of your Shepard over the course of the trilogy to create a somewhat personalized ending, or is it just going to be a slightly longer video sequence with the only difference still being the stupid RGB choice at the end?

If the latter, I won't even bother to download and play it; I'll just watch it on YouTube instead.

[Edit]
Oh, looks like this was answered above. Seems like it might be worthwhile, then.

Should be worth checking out. ME3 has completely fallen off my radar which is sad. It has nothing to do with the ending either. I was mad when they announced they were adding multiplayer to the game and now I know I was right. Everything they've released since launch has been multiplayer content. Boring...

Have you actually tried the multiplayer?

I was just as skeptical as you at first, but it's actually very enjoyable. I haven't played it in a few months since other games have been occupying my time recntly, but I probably spent more time playing MP in ME3 than I did with the SP story.

I have and quite frankly there are many other games I'd rather play for a horde mode style multiplayer. I don't know, it just couldn't hold my interest.

I've spent a lot of time on the multiplayer. It's surprisingly good. Quite challenging. Single player is child's play on any difficulty compared to multiplayer on gold. But of course everything starts to feel stale after playing it for a long time. Also, when you get good at it, all the little glitches and player-to-player connection related issues really start to bug you, because you're so used to everything working in a very specific way with your characters.

As for the extended cut, I guess all the complaining worked out in a way. Those who hate the final minutes won't change their minds, but it did give the developers an excuse to add more content which I'm sure they loved to do. Often a lot gets cut because of the parent company. EA wouldn't have allowed the extra content without the massive negativity.

I think that's a little premature don't you? I didn't like the ending at all but I have an open mind and I am willing to see what they added.

Okay, it is premature. It was based on the fact that they have not made changes to the substance of the story, which was what annoyed some people. I meant those people. I'm sure most people will enjoy the sense of greater closure and the answers to what the ending means and so on.

a small part of me still hopes that this was in the cards all along and Bioware is lying about the ending not substantially changing. i still think the indoctrination ending scenario makes way more sense given the events in all 3 games, and having Shepherd wake up in the rubble on London, breaking Harbringer's hold and we go on to get the "true" ending would be awesome

There might (might!) be some possibility of this being the case, since you apparently have to load a save from before the Cerberus Base mission to experience the new ending. If it was just a tacked-on epilogue scene that fleshed out the ending a bit more, why would they need you to start that far back to see it?

It's not just a tacked-on epilogue scene as far as I understand, but that doesn't make any fan theories come true. It's a big update, about 2 gigabytes. Sounds like there's added stuff all over the final act.

Probably spoilers depending on where you are in the game

The extended cut is not a set of different endings, but rather an expansion of the original story, allowing the player to see the effect of the choices they made during the series played out in the epilogue. The size of the download doesn't indicate a large amount of content added to any one ending, but reflects how variable the ending could be based on previous choices.

I would prefer to live my life never having to listen to Casey Hudson again. The guy is as big a liar as Peter Moleneux is. Thus I did not watch that video.

This quote get's me "The size of the download doesn't indicate a large amount of content added to any one ending, but reflects how variable the ending could based on previous choices."

LOL, because you know originally there was so much variation, 3 whole colors of variation. Just spewing more BS.

Jaded much?

He's saying the new ending will have a great deal of variety. Why not wait to see if it's true before spewing bile.

Every time this thread gets bumped, a small part of me hopes EA has seen the light and is putting ME2 DLC on sale.
