That is a neat bit of asset management going on with these moves. Flames can still move Noah Hanifin...
On a personal note thank you Lindy. Of all the places I could have bumped into you it was the checkout line in Ikea the summer that you first came here. Best of luck!

I do like the deal simply because Lindholm has been having an off-season. Would have loved to find out what the offers were last year. The 1st can allow for a pick, another trade or a trade up in the draft, so that's valuable, even if it ends up being 32nd overall. The shiny new prospect seems to need to bulk up while also playing smart against NHLers, so hopefully he's not rushed in and development keeps him on the path to success. Kuz I don't care about, but like other have said, if their target is to boost him for a year and get another pick next year, happy to hear that. Overall, it's an alright trade for both sides. I don't see it as a home run for either. Just a solid trade with some light at the end of the tunnel for the Flames which is what is needed from a rebuilding standpoint. I give it an A- to Conroy for his first big deal.
Lots of you didn’t want Kuzmenko at all if you go back and read the posts. Now a couple people point out they don’t want him because of he’s anti LGBT and suddenly we can’t talk about not wanting the player anymore?
He may mot be a consistent 40/40 guy but he could be a consistent 30/30.
He just moved to the West 2 years ago.
Given how Lindholm has been playing I don't see it as much of a downgrade
Retain half next TD and you may get another 1st.
Kuz has some good offensive skill but is a terrible hockey player.
But an acceptable risk for the rebuilding Flames. The cap doesn’t matter and he looks better next year on an expiring contract.
If the canucks finish first overall, it’s #28 so what the difference really.
The big draw would that the canucks most likely beat the oilers to get to the WCF, the pick upgrade would just be icing on the cake
If Vancouver beats Edmonton I am all for it but maybe Vegas beats Edmonton and the Nucks also lose in the first round? That would be swell and to me hitting the condition isn’t that appealing to have Van go on an extended run.
I became a hardcore fan during the 04 run my hatred for the Nucks runs deep.

LOVE this trade! Very happy we didn't sign Lindholm to a retirement contract, though he does deserve a big payday, hope he heats up and gets a nice juicy contract this summer.

It's more a read the room thing. Let people be excited about a good trade. Talk about the other stuff later.
Even if you don't like kuz the rest of the package is great. I think Kuz is better than given credit for.

If he was any good at playing center he'd still be in Jersey.
He's a top 6 W.
Sharangovich didn't look out of place in the short time he centred the fourth line here this season. I think it's clear he at least knows how to play the position.

Reaffirms my belief that this team is not and never will rebuild. The Flames clearly see Kuzmenko as someone who is here to have them win games and value him as such.
Once again failing to use retention to maximize value shows that ownership is continuing their past ways.
This team is still missing 2 players at the very top of the roster to make it an actual relevant deep playoff threat, and while Lindholm did not have the value to bring in any good shots at one on his own, I do think he should have been able to be converted into better shots at one than he has been.
Ultimately, I think this ends up just shuffling the deck chairs. We’ll see what happens with the rest of the impending trades.

That sure is one way to read it.
Or that Kuz is a cap dump/reclamation project and the center of this deal was a prospect and a first round pick
