I think it’s plausible NDP gets to 42. 44 possible, but not looking likely at the moment
Yeah the problem is outside of Calgary foothills all the lean UCP seats are pretty solid UCP so they pretty much need to win everything from behind but they probably come up somewhere around 40.

On the other hand the NDP has all but lost Edgemont without it being called yet, as a bellwether that basically says the NDP is done, the question is how close the the edge can the push the UPC. I said it as a joke earlier in the thread, but I'm not sure the party can survive a 1 seat majority. although a 5 seat majority might galvanize them.

I think there is some merit to this:

I'm counting three UCP cabinet ministers that are getting the boot.

Did any NDP incumbents lose?

While it may not be enough, the ANDP sure made huge progression in Calgary, and only bodes well for 2027.

The good news is it might be the Edmonton donut that is no good rather than Calgary aside from being able to saw off everything south of Anderson rode (no more lake Bonnevista)

THIS is a really good visualization of how close it actually is right now. Literally a few hundred votes in key ridings swinging this ATM.

Couple areas where the AP party votes are what keeps the UCP in. If they all went to NDP then the NDP would be leading.

I believe that it was on CBC but someone was being interviewed and said that there were internal party rumblings that Notley won't be sticking around if the NDP loses. If true that will probably make the opposition pressure pretty weak. But as a positive that gives the party lots of time to figure out who the next leader should be and that could potentially lead to a reshaping of the party.

Probably but she really shouldn't, I don't agree with her on a lot but she's a good politician and by all accounts a decent person.
Renounce the federal party, change to the Alberta Democrats, change colour to purple or teal or something and win the next election.

But a lot of those votes are really conservative but not Smith rather than NDP votes so I think it’s worth seeing those as lost conservative votes than lost NDP votes.
