Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker told USA Today on Wednesday that he is retiring, a decision that comes two days after the team lost to the Texas Rangers in Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

A news conference is scheduled for Thursday.

Not surprising. He was an excellent manager for many years, but seemed to lose his edge this year.

It's been a bizzaro playoff year. It's like the first time since 2002 there hasn't been a single game in extra innings.

I still have nightmares.

Am I excited like in 2010, 2011 or the Flames 2004?

No

No that's been beaten out of me.

I guess one good thing about this World Series is if you ever wanted to attend a World Series game, this is your chance. Both of these markets are so soft that you can probably get into a game for $300-500 and that hasn't been the case for many recent Fall Classics. If Diamondbacks lose the first two games, who knows maybe ticket prices will drop below $20 again like in the LCS haha.

I still regret not going to the all-star game in Phoenix in 2011 when I could have got tickets to the game and the derby for $80. It hasn't been affordable since.

No kidding. Prices are surprisingly soft for tonight, you can already get an actual seat in the $400's and will only go down. If the Dbacks fall behind those Arizona tickets will be cheap. Even though they showed they can come back.

Appropriate too. This has been one of the better games in the post season.

These two teams were clearly playing possum in the last 50 or so games of the season. Who knew?

Incredibly stupid decision to pitch to him there.

I'd lay this one wholly on Sewald, that walk in the 9th was a killer along with the beefer to Seager who did his thing. I feel the D-Backs really needed this one unfortunately.

I wouldn’t really blame this loss on the DBacks really. The Rangers snatched this game away from them. You have 27 outs to work with and the Rangers needs about all of them. Their bullpen has been quite a surprise.

Imagine spending however many hundreds of dollars to go to a World Series game only to get so trashed that you vomit all over yourself in your seat and it's immortalized forever on the internet
