I'm all for the $7.5M contract, but certainly not if it's only buying one UFA year

Flames stars Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau stick together

Well, no, now you're trying to correct it to be close to that.

You've pretty much hardlined a Tarasenko (7.5) minimum this entire time, even go as far as saying that an offer of 7-8 million is careless.
You've changed your tune have you? Did the ridiculousness of something like a 4 year, 7M per contract finally sink in?
You've not once suggested 7-8 on a 7 or 8 year deal, and even now with your backtracking, you still think 8M on an 8 year deal.
I'm saying 7-7.5 on an 8 year deal wouldnt be ridiculous, 7.5 being the max. You don't get to go another 500K above that (minimum) and say "but why is it ridiculous." That's another 4.5 million added onto that contract.

Umm, read my post again, "I'm debating the idea that its careless to offer him 7M-8M a year." People were saying that that would be a careless offer, and I was challenging that

It doesn't sound ridiculous at all. Like I said, 6.5M would be fair, but I don't think 7M would be unfair, and I could easily see it ballooning to 7M if they are trying to just get a deal done.

That's exactly what I did when I said "Forsberg + 10%, ceiling Tarasenko +10%, so that's between 7M and 8M on a 7 year deal.". You literally just quoted that in your reply

Why would 7.5x8 be the max when Tarasenko got that deal a year ago as a less proven player with worse numbers? Inflation alone would turn that into ~8M/year
Tarasenko - 66g 135p in 179gp at the time of his contract
Gaudreau - 55g 143p in 160gp at the time of his contract
So on top of inflation, Gaudreau has been a more productive player at every stage of their respective NHL careers.
So why is that ridiculous to think he should get paid 8M on a 8 year deal?

This has been pointed out roughly a thousand times in this thread. For someone who seems to enjoy telling people "your reading comprehension is bad!" And "re-read my post!" you clearly haven't bothered to read anything anyone else has been saying or even tried to comprehend it.
I don't know why I bother.

Gaudreau ultimately receiving $8M-$10M on a long term deal wouldn't be as shocking to me as the fact that people have been debating with Gaudreauvertime over the exact same points for over 15 pages now!

Ok, show me where, I legitimately haven't seen much from people detailing why 8M x 8 years is illogical or unreasonable. Do you disagree with my logic regarding inflation and relative production?

Can we get back to worrying about him bailing? It'd be a breath of fresh air at this point...

He has been shown why his ideals are not stacking up on how he slightly over values the player, he refuses to listen or notice other posters opinions even with their evidence, so this should just be /end thread

What's funny is that the exact opposite thing is happening . . it seems every time I reply to a post people respond by complaining about me posting my opinion (like your post) instead of actually debating on content. Meanwhile, I have addressed tons of different posts that debate the topic at hand.

Same here! We need hockey talk! Gaudreavertime, whether you agree with him or not, is single-handedly keeping the FOI forum alive at this time of year.
Similar to how the real Gaudreau keeps the Flames alive in games....
