This is frustrating. Hendricks was fine, he has started games in the past, leave him in. Nope Gibby has to assert his role as task master.

Pen isn't awful, but it's top heavy and a little thin. Especially Cecil going down.
Compared to KC's pen we aren't in the same league.

What do you expect out the bullpen? You can't roll out a gimmick pitcher like Dickey against a contact team like Kansas. They were down 5-0 before the game even really started.
Gibbons royally screwed things up last night.
Hopefully this spells the end of Gibbons and Dickey in Toronto.

Gibby probably going on 'hunches' and 'game feel' at this point, you know, classic old school baseball "management".
What a joke.

I've been on that boat for 3 years. You can't have a starter on a team with postseason ambitions that has one pitch and it's a gamble if it's moving that day or not. I've hated that Dickey trade since day 1.

"The Dickey experiment" won the Jays game 4 of the ALDS and is a huge reason why you are even talking about a Jays game today.

Through 4 games the Royals have scored 28 runs (and counting). Jays' pitching is being absolutely exposed in this series

Nope, the Jays offence won them game 4. All the Jays need is an average pitching performance most of the time, and Dickey cannot be trusted to give them that given he is at the mercy of his one pitch.
That said, Dickey isn't the reason they are going to lose this series, their lack of an ability to win a game without hitting 3+ homeruns is. That and the decision to hand Kansas home field advantage. You aren't hitting that many on that field.

Syndergaard and D'arnaud would be a lot better on the Jays roster at the moment.
Dickey has been so incredibly inconsistent I can't help but feel Syndergaard would be just as effective if not more.

The Jays won that game 8-4 and you are absolutely fooling nobody except yourself by saying Dickey didn't play a major role in that. He held the Rangers to just a single run and prevented them from really making a game of it. The offense performed yes, but someone had to shut them down so yes, Dickey is a gigantic reason there is a ALCS for the Jays. That game 5 magic may never happen if Dickey doesn't pitch as well as he did in game 4.

Good lord, of course. But that is such a pointless argument to make years after the fact. The Mets never make that trade if it weren't quality players coming in return that would help them in the long run (now). That's why trades are made

The Dickey trade does hurt since he was brought here to help us win 3 years ago and it didn't happen then. Now that we can win he isn't as consistent as he was in his Cy Young Season.
Especially since D'Arnaud and Syndergaard are already helping the Mets win, even though AA rationale for the trade was that our window to win would be closed by the time they were ready.

I really could careless what Dickey did that game. The fact of the matter is that he cannot be counted on to give an average performance on a consistent basis. You can't roll out a guy like that in the playoffs.

They don't have a choice! Who else do you roll out then?
Hutchison? Buerhle? Both of those options are equally if not more inconsistent. Not to mention they aren't even on the roster.
The only option would be Estrada on short rest. But then what? Price on short rest after that? In a non elimination game like today, Dickey was it.

I had no problem with the Marlins deal, but that deal had a stink on it from day 1. We essentially traded a top pitching prospect and catching prospect for an old man living off a gimmick pitch. They could have anyone for what they gave up. There's been questions about that deal since Day 1.
