Lots of people having issues with the PS4 game pre-orders (Killzone, Knack) from the E3 sale at Futureshop. Games are all available in store but are OOS online and are not shipping to those customers.
Issue is customers who pre-ordered after the E3 sale and paid the full $59.99 seem to be receiving the games that they ordered.

If this happens to me I will be going to future shop and buying a new copy for $60, then returning the pre-order copy that I paid $40 for in the store and get the full $60 back.

That's what I had to do. Marvel LEGO shipped 5 days after the release date. So I just went in store and bought the game on release date and got the in store freebie. Then returned the shipped copy when it got here. They emailed me a survey after specifically about the shipping issue as well. So looks like it's on their radar.

Although now it makes me wonder if they are going to have this problem with PS4 pre-orders also...I sure hope not.

I'll think I'll be getting the PS4, but not out of the gate, haven't had a big rush on new systems since I was younger. Will wait 3-6 months to see what happens. Shoot if I wait a year it may come down, or have additions to it.
I remember what happened with the PS3, it was pretty slow out of the gate, not a lot of games, or good games. I didn't get it till years later though, so it didn't affect me, but I do remember the gripes. Might as well just wait until there is a decent library.
Don`t get me wrong, I understand the appeal of the latest and greatest, and don't disagree with anyone who wants to get it right away. In fact I certainly understand it a lot more than waiting in line for an iPhone Gold. Just that for me, waiting a little while till they work out the kinks and build a good library is the way to go.

In a strange way I think right now is the perfect time to be a current gen gamer. A huge library of games exist, many at low prices. I've got enough of a backlog to keep my PS3 relevent for a while. I'll give it a solid 6 months before I look at the jump to next gen, could probably hold off even longer.

I played the Fifa 14 demo on a PS4 at Deerfoot Meadows Best Buy today. I noticed the smoothness of player animations right away, which was nice. However, the differences between PS4 and PS3 seem more subtle than I would have expected.

Totally makes sense.
Most game developers will not be able to make games solely for the new generation for a while - until the install base grows enough. They cannot ignore the massive existing 360 and PS3 installed base that is locked and loaded already.

Dead Rising 3 confirmed for 720p and 30 fps.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...th-those-specs
Dead Rising 3 has suffered high-profile performance issues since E3. How have you improved the game in the months since?
Josh Bridge: Well, first I'm really proud to say we were running on hardware at E3. We had the kits there and we were running it behind closed doors for press. I was really proud, and I had no shame in saying this is where we're at - this is preview code. Ever since then, and it was happening during that time, content needs to be completed, and then optimisation is the focus. And that's what happened - you've seen it through E3, through Gamescom, through now - the frame-rate's been going up and up. And now we're at locked 30 - and that's just been purely the effort of all aspects of the team, the engineering team and our team all trying to optimise. And that's always what happens as the last step of the development of a product.
What native resolution is Dead Rising 3?
Josh Bridge: 720p. And I'm really happy with that, with the sheer amount of stuff we have in an open world game locked at 30fps, that's just brilliant. Of course our UI (user interface) runs at 1080 native on top, but no, we're a 720p game locked at 30fps.
How hard has it been getting to 720/30 on Xbox One?
Josh Bridge: It's been... Outside of infancy - every new platform launch, I've now learnt - it's always infancy on tools, and that's the back and forth with tools improving. It's very similar to a PC development environment, so that's been really cool. Happy to not be cross-platform, to be honest - it's a huge challenge for a game like ours. We have to do very specific things with memory allocation and drivers to get our stuff running, and in the past it was like wow, it made our teams quite a bit larger having multiple leads.

Not sure if this has been posted..free fitness programs for until dec 2014 for xbox gold members.
http://ca.ign.com/videos/2013/11/06/...ox-ones-kinect
Quote:
Xbox Fitness is an online service planned for this holiday on Xbox One that enhances workout videos with Kinect support. The pre-recorded videos from P90X, Insanity, and Jillian Michaels will be familiar to fitness buffs, but Kinect can now offer feedback to players, offering suggestions on how to better follow along with the routine. It's the closest thing you can get to having Shaun T yelling at you in your living room.
Until December 2014, Xbox Live Gold members will get Fitness subscription features for free. Like Netflix, Xbox Fitness has a catalog of streaming videos that are part of the membership. However, Xbox Live Free members will also be able to use Xbox Fitness.
While Gold members will have access to a rather large collection of Fitness videos, Free members will be able to buy videos from the collection a la carte. Priced similarly to their non-interactive DVD counterparts, it's a sensible way of accessing the Fitness content without paying for an ongoing membership.
With Xbox Fitness membership beyond the one-year trial not yet priced, this may be a good option even for Gold members that only need one or two videos to workout with.

30 fps is pretty standard for 3rd person games and due to the sheer amount of things going on the screen at once this was the one game where I was pretty sure it wasn't going to be 1080p as a launch title.

Theoretically the best thing to do in terms of a budget is to buy current gen consoles at or near end of its life span. Cheaper price for the hardware, you know which games will be the must-plays but all of which would be for dirt cheap prices.
Though doing so might be hard since there's such a push to stay current.

^^^ Well yeah, but purely from an economic standpoint. But you could say that about buying just about anything, especially when it comes to technology.
Obviously, especially with gaming, you wanna strike a balance that still gives you the excitement when things are relatively new, and you're able to enjoy things before they become dated, or somehow spoiled for you through your travels or your friends or wherever. While being behind can still be fun in a lot of ways, in other ways it can ruin the experience, especially if it's a multiplayer deal.
But yeah, a one year wait would probably be good for a lot of gamers.

Well poop, I guess they haven't been able to make that many changes to Ryse since people first saw it/had hands on. I came away from my hands on hoping they could add more meat to it before release. This is just one preview though, we'll get (more) reviews from various sources soon!
I still have high hopes for Killer Instinct though - just need more seasons/fighters!
http://www.gameinformer.com/games/ry...e-numbers.aspx
Ryse: Son Of Rome Is As Fun As Dialing Phone Numbers
I’m hoping that later levels introduce some more difficult enemies, as the dozens of encounters I had consisted of all the complexity of dialing phone numbers. Almost every fight started with me hitting the attack button a couple of times, then pushing the enemy in an effort to stop him from breaking my combo. Then, I’d continue attacking until he was weak enough for the execution sequence. Once this occurs, the game slows down and the enemy flashes various colors. You press the face button of the appropriate color, and your protagonist Marius dismembers or murders the foe in dramatic fashion.
It’s so basic and predictable, I began testing to see if I could get past most combat situations with one hand. With my left hand completely off the controller, I was able to slice and dice through tons of enemies simply by inputting the same sequence ad nauseum. On a couple of occasions, the game would shift to sequences that involved me defending an area with crossbow stations or ordering my men to block arrows with their shields. These were somehow even less exciting than the tedious swordplay.

Two other sites posted favorable previews of Ryse today stating that it was much improved from the E3 build.
Don't think the gameplay is anything gamechanging but this seems like an overly harsh review.

Do you have the links? I can't find it on metacritic/google at this time.
I thought there a Microsoft embargo for actual reviews until the 12th? Maybe I am wrong.
