Uh oh. All over the internet it's being reported the PS4 version of COD: Ghosts having framerate issues. Looks like they should have ran with 720p as well. One thing for sure is if the XB1 version runs smooth with supposedly better textures it will be the far better version as frame rate issues is the worst detract a lot more than a few jaggies.
Quote:
”A key pillar of the Call of Duty experience has always been rock-solid 60 frames per seconds gameplay. On Xbox 360, Ghosts maintains this mandate. The PlayStation 4 version, however, has noticeable technical issues, sometimes slowing to a crawl, particularly during set-piece moments with multiple effects. One specific moment I was able to replicate multiple times on PS4 was a campaign scene that ran smoothly on Xbox 360 and PS3, while the game chugged On PlayStation 4. These frame rate hitches happen throughout the campaign on PS4 and, in a series known for its Hollywood-inspired bombast, it detracted from the experience.”
It is good to know if there are performance compromises to running in 1080p, perhaps running at the lower resolution 720p can offset it. Good to see more information come out everyday. Always good for consumers to be informed - better yet will be to have these in hand to see in person.
Xbone still has media embargos (for another week I think?) - will be interesting to see their comments on those versions.
EDIT: Linked beaten I think.
At least we're not talking pure resolutions in isolation anymore. I wonder if the final conclusion of all information and data will be point us to just get the common launch games on the 360 or PS3.
Hmmm, returns to Amazon.ca are free. And you could always return Bestbuy directly to the store. Unless you mean the US websites, then it would be a bit more of a hassle.
There's no Bestbuy in Victoria anymore. Amazon's website says they only pay for return shipping if the product is defective, unless I misread it.
^ Lots of reports that the PC version is having the same issue.
Its what happens when you rush out 5 versions of a game.
Has there been a release patch yet for the PC version?
Isn't there supposed to be a Day 1 patch on the 15th for the PS4 version and on the 22nd for the Xbone? These disks were pressed weeks ago - did they get a special patch issue or are they reviewing on pre-launch (but gold) versions?

From the sounds of it Infinity Ward kind of rushed out a sloppy game on most platforms to meet the deadline. 5 versions is quite a bit but sometimes I wish developers would have the stones to delay games like this rather than rush it out the door half baked. I can understand issues with the PS4 and XB1 versions given the new hardware and developer tools but there is really no excuse for the game to run poor on existing platforms like the PS3 and PC.

That is why I'm totally happy/cool with Watch Dogs being delayed.
It's gonna be like Diablo, SimCity or the original World of Warcraft launches x 1000. Crap is gonna hit the fan for like half a year for both consoles and online stores until things settle out. Or even longer!
Man, launch can't come soon enough for us to just see for ourselves.
Interesting byproduct of social media the internet though - ANY information about the consoles spreads so quickly and (over) analyzed like crazy. Fun times though.
How much should I bet that Sony copies this and does something similar with their Playstation app? Scanning the QR code would be way better than typing out those long codes.
