Walk Hard has ruined all biopic movies forever! I love that movie. The wrong kid died!

It was and still is a flawless genre critique.

There is not one bad Leslie Nielsen spoof movie. Not a single one. Heck you can add Lloyd Bridges to that as well. They're the Kings of spoof.

But in terms of pure comedy? Dumb and Dumber isn't even Jim Careys best movie let alone a top candidate for best overall, that is Ace Ventura.

Also let's not forget the beautiful Naked Gun movies. Hilarious.

Airplane is amazing as well. I still use "Shirley you can't be serious" to this day its so legendary.

Also can we not forget the beauty that was Emelio Estevez's spoof movie entries in the loaded weapon movies.

Me also. Was planning to go see it on the 13th but don’t even see showtimes listed. Is it being pulled from Theatres already?

Don't forget Blazing Saddles, This is Spinal Tap, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights for spoof/parody movies... I'd even consider The Princess Bride in that same genre, even if it's considered more of a satire.

If we are having a conversation about spoof movies, we need to talk about Shrek. It's top 5 for me, completely riffs on Disney and fairy tales it's absolutely perfect.

In terms of just comedies, the early 2000s had some absolute bangers, Wedding Crashers, American Pie 2, Euro Trip. All hilarious and all would never be made today

Haven't seen Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood mentioned yet.

I saw that movie way too young, but years later it's still pretty wild.

That and “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka” were great.

Some honourable mentions to the parody / satire genre:

“Balls of Fury”
“Kung Pow! Enter the Fist”

Kung Pow is my guilty pleasure movie. As I understand there is still considerable interest in making a sequel.

The fact that no one has mentioned Top Secret yet is a travesty. These two scenes alone are hall of fame worthy

Watched the 100 year old silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and I have to say I actually really enjoyed it. The film is short (70 mins or so) and is split into 6 parts, and it does take a while to get going but by the end I was thoroughly enjoying it and it totally creeped me out. This film is the birth of expressionist film making, it's so beautiful to look at. The crooked doors, the spiralling steps into the town, the music, the exaggerated make up on actors, all of it was wonderful. This (alongside Metropolis) might be the most influential movie ever made, you can still see threads of this in modern horror.

I watched She Came To Me yesterday with my wife. It stars Peter Dinklage as an opera composer struggling to find inspiration, but it's not really just his story as it's more of an ensemble story, including his therapist wife played by Anne Hathaway, their son and his girlfriend and the girlfriend's family by extension. A chance encounter with a tugboat captain played by Marisa Tomei provides him with the inspiration to write a great opera and return to prominence, but it gets weird and convoluted from there.

I have to be honest, this is a movie that isn't quite sure what it wants to say, and yet I really enjoyed it. The character portrayals are interesting, the story/plot is unique, and the end result is something that is very odd and sweet at the same time. The opera pieces are actually very enjoyable to see on screen. Dinklage is mesmerizing, and both Hathaway and Tomei are excellent in their roles. It's a bit of a mess in terms of structure and tone, but it does come together in the end.

6.5/10, only because the structure of the film is wobbly.

The Beatles scene in that movie kills me everytime. It's such a perfect send up of biopics

Finally got around to watching Prey, since Disney actually put it out on a beautiful 4K disk, thought it was fantastic, I would only put the original Predator above it in the franchise. Great story, beautiful cinematography and some awesome Predator action. This continues to be a strong franchise, only the Shane Black directed one is bad, the rest I really like ( haven't seen any of the Predator vs Alien films).

For those that have seen Strays can I watch it with my 13 year old daughter. I don't care about bad language but if there is any really nasty sexual stuff I'd pass. Big dog family so I know she would like it but how graphic is it?

I'm one of like 17 people who thinks Predator 2 is a decent sequel and slightly underrated. It obviously doesn't hit the home run heights of the original but it's a worthy bloop single to me.
