Could always see a trade to reduce our logjam of outfielders, of course.

Regardless, a hell of an offseason.
Well be surprised now I guess...they are going after both of them. Landing them or not depends on the player

Cough up some dough Rogers. You definitely save enough in the quality of broadcasts. Use it towards these bats.

They're already over $300 million in payroll, second only to the Dodgers, and by all accounts have been the most aggressive suitor in the pursuit of Tucker. What more would you like them to do? Lol

Obviously Tucker going to the Mets would be better than an AL east team or the Dodgers, but it sure will be annoying losing an elite hitting OFer for the second year in a row to that tire fire.

Tucker could be that piece that really puts the Jays up another level. Hes the type of talent that could put up some 6+ WAR seasons if he is healthy.

Yeah. The Blue Jays are spending as a top market team - you don't have to agree with all their decisions (I never liked the Gimenez trade eg) but I don't think you can fault them for not spending money. They locked Vlad in for a half billion dollars starting this year, and were still the biggest FA spenders so far even excluding that deal, and are still pursuing spending more.

Yeah. I still haven't wrapped my head around their new free spending ways. Looking at their lineup and roster construction after Okamoto, I was skeptical. Hopefully they can land Tucker.

Rogers head view the Jays as his pet product and we know the play-off run was incredibly lucrative for them.

I think they're realizing that even spending half a billion on this team still pays them big money.

Default Jays World Series Run Nets Rogers an Estimated $100 Million in Revenue

Quote:
On Monday, a new report from the Financial Post offered more clarity as to just how much money the Jays brought in from their run to the World Series. An estimate from a National Bank of Canada analyst suggests “the MLB playoff run was worth over $100 million” in revenue for Blue Jays ownership.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s still a conservative number. After all, there are so many ways a playoff run can indirectly increase a team's revenue. For example, I wonder if that $100 million estimate includes the ad revenue Rogers brought in from all the extra traffic the Sportsnet website and YouTube channel were surely getting last October.

Not to mention, the monetary benefits of a deep postseason run don’t go away when the postseason ends.

LOL. for a 2/5 tool player who probably won't age well.

Love Bo, want him back, he's really good at hitting and the Jays can absorb his deficiencies - but that's an outrageous ask.

I wonder if his being on the Jays, the short-term deals, arbitration hearings have all taken a toll?

Seeing your star running mate make bank as essentially a bat-only player (still a hell of a 1B) would mess with your head a bit I'd imagine.

That's the only way I can rationalize that type of contract demands.

I like Bo, but so much of his value is tied up in his batting average. The guy doesn't walk and has shown some year-to-year inconsistency too.

I'd do 5/$150, but that's as long as I'd go.

LOL. No.

I mean I appreciate the moxie and respect a strong opening position... but no... at that term and price the Jays are right to put more effort into going for Tucker.

Same. Bichette will not age well. 5 Years? Sure, I can buy that... 10? No way in hell.

Those who were comfortable with Vlad getting a 15 year deal should ultimately be comfortable with Bo’s request. Personally I don’t agree with either getting those terms. I previously predicted he’d get upwards of $35M AAV, but on a shorter term. I don’t think he should be getting over 7 years though.

Find a way to sign Tucker obviously.

And Bo. But that rumored ask is a bit much

In all seriousness though, excited for the Jays season next year. Hopefully we can lock in another top bat, but this lineup can definitely make some noise again next year.

The experience in the World Series can and hopefully will pay dividends going forward

Not surprised at the Bo ask. Will that be his final deal, probably not but he’s got this opportunity to make his big bag of cash like may others have done the past years including Vlad. 8 year $200 is my prediction somewhere.

But the world wide audience of a feel good story by getting how close they did, has been the main driver for players to look closer at Toronto. The last couple years the Jays finally were willing to spend on Soto or Ohtahni (and others) but got turned down even with overpays.
Now they are getting people to say yes. With half of the $300MM they’ve spent having been received in one month of baseball, it makes that price tag more digestible.
