Calgary wasn't on the list. It was:
1. Edmonton
2. Edmonton
3. Edmonton
4. Edmonton
5. Edmonton
6. Edmonton
7. Winnipeg
8. Buffalo

I thought we were on the darkest timeline. Could legitimately save this iteration of the Flames.

Interesting part to me is that Florida was on Tkachuks list.
I know they are good…but it just feels like he’d want a team in a bigger hockey market that had a bit more spotlight on it

Johnny and Chucky don't kill penalties. Huberdeau and Weegar does. That's another win for us.

Gaudreau must've been able to feel that flex by Treliving all the way from his jersey shore beach house.

Who doesn’t want to live in Florida?
Low tax, and mostly good weather

Treliving absolutely dunking on his critics (myself included) in attacking Florida's vulnerabilities--first round exit wounds and front office analytics fetish. He acquires the best player in the trade, a top-pair defenceman, a good prospect and a 1st for an analytics darling who makes enemies of his teammates and disappears in the playoffs.
If he still has a job in six months, Bill Zito will look up from his spreadsheets to find that Brad Treliving has eaten his lunch.

Oh and for anyone ####ting on Weegar for his playoff performance, remember that the Panthers had an absolutely terrible coach behind the bench. There's a reason they replaced Brunette despite a President's Trophy and the first playoff win in 20+ years, nobody on that team looked good in the playoffs. Meanwhile Sutter managed to turn 2 good players into 100+ point superstars and 2 bottom pairing defencemen into top-4 players on many other teams. I'm quite excited to see how Weegar adjusts to Sutter hockey

Then he totally went to the wrong team. When the Panthers fall back to 10-12 in the East they would be lucky to draw 7,000 a night.

The last month with all the negative news it has been like repeatedly getting kicked in the balls. To see Brad get this return is a welcome turn of events!
Weegar is excellent and like most D I think he will excel even more under Sutter. His defensive game should get better so I hope the Flames lock him up before he takes another step on an already excellent last season.
The deal really hinges on Huberdeau extending. Mainly because while he would garner a huge return at the deadline, this Flames team with Sutter and the current players is likely in a playoff or division title battle so they will not trade him if that is the case. So even though he could return a couple 1sts at the deadline, barring several injuries and a catastrophic season I don't see the team making that move. I do think Brad has a good idea on the number it will take to keep Huberdeau and hope to see a signing in the coming days.
Can we confirm that the 1st is lotto protected or top 10 protected? Either way it is a great asset as I think it is tough for any team to be a contender for 4 years, hopefully Florida is starting to bottom out in 2025.

100% of 0 is 0
It only matters how you feel Chucky will play next 8 years. He was a bright star when the pressure was off, and with a stellar playmaker for 1 year if his career.
The remainder was a pest with above average scoring ability in regular season. Playoffs he disappears.
FLA is banking on improvement here and odds are this is what he is.

Weegar did not look really bad last year. There is no metric by which Weegar looked bad.
You can’t lead the presidents trophy winning team in ice time by 330 minutes, put up 57% xGF at 5v5 and look bad.

My outrageous prediction of Monahan getting 30 goals might come true. Huberdeau will bounce them off of him.
