It doesn't exactly seem like he's getting what he's after at this point.

I think he might get $8 million per, but it would have to be a short term deal, like 2 years.

Thank you Tkachuk for expressing how you felt about staying in Calgary and giving the flames as much notice as possible. I'll be happy to continue cheering you on after you leave. To anyone who didn't treat the flames with the same respect, thanks for your time and piss off.

I can’t see Matthew signing anywhere longterm that isn’t St.Louis… Flames could get offers but Chucky has the power to not sign a long term deal… If I’m St. Louis I’d low ball Calgary or let him walk to UFA and get him without giving up anything.

NJD moving in right direction but think their 1st could still prove really valuable. Be interested to land that package.

I don't think this necessarily mean rebuild....we have cap space and trade value to quickly turn this around.
Offer sheet for Laine....I don't think there is a thing Columbus can do...they are tight against the cap. 8 million might get it done. Say what you want about the guy....but he can score...and is big....I would happily give up 2 firsts for that.
Wonder if the Bruins would take Tkachuk....for Pastrnak....go full European..

I wonder how many more will want out, or if this is it?
The return for Tkachuk might be keep us from rebuilding.
A guy like Kyrou is a top line player for instance.

An offer sheet for Laine would be awful. The absolute last thing this team needs to do is give up valuable picks for a 1 dimensional forward with 0 supporting cast. Pastrnak would ease the sting a bit, but with no guarantees of a long term deal from Laine, no thanks at all.

Pastrnak is UFA after 1 season.
No thanks.

I consider him somewhat of a cap dump for Boston and at the same time someone who the Flames could potentially sign to a medium term deal.

Maybe we could trade Tkachuk to Columbus for Gaudreau?

We have more of a chance signing Pasta long term than tkachuk, and he's at least a comparable level talent. I'd consider a 1 for 1 depending what other options are out there.

Brad is going get taken advantage of, and I will admit its not his fault in that aspect. He is dealing from a position of weakness. Remember the days of the Flames front office being tight lipped? Just in the last 8 years we have heard about...
Jankowski and Brodie traded for Kadri
Frolik traded for Zucker
Bennett request trade
Gaudreau leaving and ensuing fiasco
Tkachuk not wanting to play here

It’s not that weak. A top 100pt player is up for auction. It all depends if the list of teams is 2,5,10,16.
Pretty much any team on his list will be bidding to add him.

With this news, I think a rebuild is the only way to go. Who are the Flames even, if not Gaudreau and Tkachuk?
Everybody over the age of 26 should be moved if they can bring back anything of value at all. Flames should go after picks and up-and-coming players with the aim of having a solid core of 22-26 year old players to work with 3-4 years from now. The old core is now gone, we won't find a new one in free agency, so time to tear it down to the foundation (what's left of it) and start again. Do it well, and it might come together faster than you'd think.

His last contract’s terms re it’s final year was a clear message that he wanted to leave Calgary after he reached this stage. He’ a great player and and I wish we could have kept him, but he’s not a >$9M player, which is what that contract forced the next Flames contract to be if they didn’t want him to go the UFA route.
